Hi (finally...)
Apologies for the late introduction. I got a bit overwhelmed by the explosion of posts here after all the new characters were accepted and had to take a step back. But I’ve now mustered enough courage to make an appearance :P.
So, here’s Jacques, Seven of Diamonds, who is a long-time friend of Christopher Kahl (previously called Jacob by him; I hope the name change won’t cause any confusion). They met at Duke University and he introduced Christopher to the Deck. Jacques himself has been mostly off-Deck for the last four years, making a career producing television documentaries and films. He’s come back now to settle down. For him, Deck is The Place to live. He likes the old-fashioned ways, the formality and the I’m-part-of-a-strange-movie feel of it all.
Unlike most Diamonds, he grew up rather geeky and unfashionable and to his father’s dismay, not very keen on climbing up the social ladder. He’s made it to Seven, though, and is content to stay there. Luckily this hasn’t caused any rift between him and his father, because the old man thinks it’s just as good to be earning money... after all, one day Jacques might be able to buy a higher position instead of winning it through challenges.
His family has made their fortune in casino business and they own one on Deck, too, called Pavilion. It’s quite a small establishment, but they have live entertainment on occasion. Part of the profit is given to charity, so you’ll do a good deed by stopping by at their casino :).
Definitely:
Säde, the Queen, Avery, Glory, Diana, Adrien, Claudine (how old is she?), Sophie, Laila and Isaac. From these Säde, the Queen and Diana are closest in age to him, as Jacques is 34. However, not only are those ladies above him in rank, but he’s awkward around women so I imagine any interactions have been brief and formal. I could see his and Sophie’s families having been rivals, both being French and ambitious (or maybe they were in friendly terms?). The only men here, Adrien and Isaac, are really too young to have moved in the same circles with him, but I think Jacques rather admires Isaac for being such a unique person. Adrien, on the other hand... I fear he’ll just look at Jacques’s lack of style with pity :D.
Maybe:
Cadogan (joined Deck about a year before Jacques left), Rajat (has he been with Diamonds long enough?). Age-wise both are kind of close, though.
Not sure:
Hürrem (when did she join the deck and how old is she?), Leigh (when did Säde took her in?)
No:
Lelial and Grace (both too new)
Ok, any confirmations to those would be nice :).
I’d like to know if there are people from other Suits that might know Jacques. For instance, friends of Christopher have probably met him. However, if you’ve lived on Deck for less than four years it’s unlikely they’ve met. Also women.. not so much unless you come up with a good reason :).
