July's Voicetest and Enabling Post [a twofer!]

Here be rules and explanatory things!~
1. Taking part is not mandatory! If you wish to test-drive a new muse, here's the place, but if you'd rather app them without testing - that's perfectly legit, too. :3

2. There are suggestions for scenarios behind the cut. You can use the RNG to roll a relationship and a situation, but you are absolutely free to come up with a scenario of your own. It's more like a friendly suggestion/bit of inspiration from out side.~

3. You may voicetest as many characters at once as you like, and testing them here doesn't make apping mandatory. It's supposed to help you get a hold on the character's voice and to help you decide whether they would fit into the setting or not.

4. Please, keep the following in mind:
a) nothing that happens in this meme is canon or has to be taken into the game. This applies to both the CR and the situation at hand - though if you like it? Talk about it and make it canon once your muse got in.~
b) taking part does not assure that your muse will get into the game.
c) it's just a meme. It's here to help and to have fun, nothing more, nothing less.

5. For the voicetesting characters only: please fill out the short form below:.

Player name: Your name/online alias
Character name: Your character's name.
Character Rank/Suit: The rank your character holds and the suit they are in.
Short description: Three to five short sentences that will give some basic information on your character. This could include their occupation (or whether they are new to the deck), mention existing relationships to characters already in the game (as long as that has been discussed with the character's muns) and maybe a few words on the character's personality. Don't link to an already written app/the character's whole history/an essay on their personality. It's just supposed to be a synopsis.

The information given here is not yet set canon, so you are perfectly free to change it for the actual app.~

6. You can also post a character that is already in the game so people can bounce their voicetesting characters off of you! Actually, this is very much welcomed. Do it! :D If you want to.

As stated above, here is a list of the relationships and scenarios you can roll out in case you don't want to come up with something else or just like randomness a lot.

Relationships
1. Acquaintances - You have seen each other around, but rarely exchanged more than a couple of words. Time to chance that!
2. Friends - What it says on the tin. Maybe you've known each other for a long time, maybe not - whichever works best.
3. Colleagues - For some reason, you two work together a lot - be it cross-suit work or inter-suit things, you keep ending up doing important stuffs together.
4. Lovers - What it says on the tin. Secret or not, just crushing or close to married, it's The Wuv between you two.
5. Exes - When No. 4 went bad. This may or may not get awkward.
6. ENEMIES - You hate each other. That's all there is to say.
7. ??? GO WILD!

Situations
1. Surprise!assignment - For some reason, your King/Queen/whoever decided you two should work together on a ~~gloriously random~~ project. Even crackier when it's off-suit.
2. Suddnely, date. - Can be a blind date, an assignment taking a funny route or an Actual Date (or whatever else, really). Go out, have fun. Wheee.
3. Challenges! - Either that person challenged you, or you challenged that person, or you are going to challenge soon or ... whatever challenge-related scenario you want to have here.
4. Morning After - What happened last night? Where are we? I have no idea, you play it out.
5. Party, PARTY! - It's time to celebrate a thing! IDEC what thing! Maybe it's a masquerade or a fun evening at the Four Suits Pub...
6. Bad Day - For all your emo needs. One person has a bad day, the other comforts them. Or makes it worse. Or anything else.
7. ??? GO WILD.

ALSO: If you would like to be enabled into creating a new character or if you have a requested character (or character type or face or whatever) you'd like to see in the game...post them under the comment thread titled "enabling requests". :) OR if you just want to see them put in a

musemostwanted post in a few days before we open apps, we'll be posting some descriptions of wanted characters there. :)

Somewhere in the depths of his file, there's an administrative remark about him refusing orders to do a certain job without the recommended safety gear. It was when he was a Four, the first time.

May I suggest either Tom Hardy or Christian Bale? (basically hai, guess who watched TDKR recently)

"You perhaps would not be surprised how many do, or from different genders or nationalities." She taps his file. "I did not think you were such case. It would be noted here if so." Why, yes, she made note of incident (and approved).

She pushes his folder aside. "Follow me, please." Rising, she strides out door (never looking to see if he obeys) and marches short distance down hallway to empty office, empty of people, but not of file folders, haphazard Post-it notes and various reports. A computer (nearly covered with said notes) sits in one corner of desk. "Trial by fire. Let us see your organizational skills. I will give no further direction. I am certain once you peruse items you will see what needs be done."

A mock office, full of mock paperwork and mock names. Some obviously would be considered confidential even need-to-know, some urgent, some not. Inside top desk drawer rests appointment book in need of triage. Part of his test is to see if he finds it.

"I will leave it to you. Return when you are finished." She waves lazily down corridor. "Public lavatory is down there. You may of course take breaks when needed." She has no need for someone who makes mistakes because they refuse to refresh themselves.

[He can't help but laugh at the snorting. Already a little cynic, this one. Surely, she is from the 'Motherland' though he's never stepped foot in Russia. He had considered Moscow State University until Stanford accepted him. Stanford versus MSU? Surely, he should be forgiven for his choice.]

/He's a rude gentlemen and I'm afriad he's not the only one in the deck. You'll find more respectful folk, though. Also folk from back home, though they're spread out in the town. I'll speak to Ms. Weils-Cruz about taking you meet some./ [Mary'd like Fania, he thinks, though. Fania spoke Russian with a cosmopolitan Moscow accent.] /I'm not very Diamond to a man like Ms. Tsung's boss. I was born here and I was taught to speak Russian here, but I never polished my accent./

...."Fate?"

Seriously, fuck his life.

This requires a long, cold swallow of beer.

"Guess it worked though," he says, after setting the bottle down. "I mean...you're here, aren't you? That's pretty impressive."

More than the usual, even. Since this place didn't even properly exist.

"Well. This looks suitably Sisyphean." He looks the office over, then nods, beginning to move all the office furniture out of the center of the room. He has a plan.

It starts with making piles, taking everything off the desk and out of the desk, organizing it by type: Post-its, file folders, loose papers, non-paper items. The staplers and pens go into the desk drawer, and then his real work begins.

What will end up happening first is a re-piling by apparent subject matter. Post-its with phone numbers and emails will be matched with reports on the people they belong to. Plans for events will be cross-references in the appointment book. And once he's satisfied with the state of these piles, he turns the computer on.

The appointment book becomes a calendar in Microsoft Outlook, with alarms for the most vital appointments. Contacts are added, with rank and suit preceding name in standard notation: 2D, 4S, 7C.

And the files and other papers are filed in the bottom drawer, with the most urgent, "to be acted on" set in the upper lefthand corner of the desk, opposite the computer.

He surveys the room, and takes the time to vaccuum the carpet and take the trash out before picking up the urgent folders and returning to Katya's office. Time elapsed? Five hours.

She shrugs her shoulders at that skeptical tone. Yeah, it's a bullshit reason, but she can't think of any reason she would have heard Johnny then after so many years.

"I didn't really know what I'd found at first," she tells him. "It looks like any other town, except for the Castles."

Short description:The shy, nerdy kid in the back of the classroom, scribbling away in his notebook. Also? The brash, rebellious underground DJ who broadcasts to the Deck.

/That is a shame. Mama had promised this place would be different./ [A beat at the mentioning of her mother. The past few months have made her shape up or lie down, as saying goes. She likes to think she is now similar to Papa and Avgustin that way. Tart and blunt. It is only things she has left of two now.

But she is still a little girl. She cannot help but perk at the mentions of others. Others from comforting home.]

/Really? I was told by others that I must only stay in the Suit. But it came from the man so of course I must be cautious of words./ [She never thought of asking her guardians for confirmation. She should have. Long as one spoke her tongue, Mary was content for conversation despite puzzling accents. The language barrier she faced here in this place was frustrating.] /Could you be asking Ms. Weils? I am eager to see others! And. And you learn your language despite never being there? Why is that? Do you plan to go one day? It is not as nice as it used to be despite my yearning for it./

"Teodoro." Yes, the full name. This is why people don't like you, Jordan. "I have a job for you."

And you will not like it in the least.

There's no backtalk, no questions. Just a quick bow before Teddy's eyes flicker up at Jordan, dark and uncertain.

"Yes, my Ten." There's a heaviness to his words when he's talking to someone in person, as though the words fall from his mouth, hitting the ground to form craters.

The Queen looks up from her papers to glance at clock on her desk when Bethany ushers him into her office. "Hmmm, not best time but it is close. I am more interested with efficiency. Let us go look, yes? And then perhaps luncheon."

She leads them back to spare office, noting the vacuumed carpet--above and beyond call of duty--as well as neatly organized items. Appointment book transformation she particularly notes with the thought Meghana would approve.

"Very good. Time was beaten by nearly half hour before." She smiles, "but applicant failed to prioritize work or transfer appointments. I would say your is superior. Have you ever considered becoming PA?"

It's not a reaction Jordan gets from a lot of Hearts, and he does appreciate it when it happens. "Good," he murmurs. "The Queen wants to know who's running the underground radio station that's popped out. Since he sounds about your age, I want you to look into it."

He winces slightly, unable to help himself. "Yes, my Ten. Is there any action her Majesty intends to take on it?"

"Your Majesty, I think I'd even enjoy it. This challenge was eye-opening. I'm not sure how any trump card would be able to survive without one." He nods thoughtfully, breathing in and looking around the mock-up office. "Will I have this sort of knot to untangle in my new office?"

"Teddy. Teddy!" Have a Riley running up to you, arms outstretched. She won't go in for a hug; she'll tug at his sleeve ahead. "I forgot my wallet at home. So you should buy me lunch."

"You can stop calling me 'my Ten' like I'm a character in The Princess Bride," he says dryly. "My name is Jordan. And no, I think she just wants to know whose doing it. Maybe she wants to allocate funds, I have no idea." In reality, he sort of figured that Judith was sending him on a wild goose chase to annoy him.

Speaking of annoying him...

"Yes, my Ten." No, Teddy's certainly not confrontational, but he has a passive-aggressive streak a mile wide. "I'll look into it for you."

"Ah..." He blinks at her a moment. Then sketches the rough outline of a bow due to Rank and her being Deckborn and really? To give him a moment to think. "I should?" Yes, real high-quality thinking was achieved there.

"Because you're a good person and you adore me because I'm just that personable, yeah. You should." She'll loop her arm through his, pointing to a little cafe. "Come on, I promise I'll get something cheap."

It's the favorite pasttime of every Heart when it comes down to it. Jordan just gives Teddy a blandly amused look. Go right ahead, Chambers.

"I appreciate it, my Two."

Two can play that game, after all.

There's a moment where he goes a little blank at her touch, letting himself be dragged off like a piece of driftwood in a heavy tide. "Alright, Miss Four."

"Not my name." She's cheery enough, though, pulling him to the cafe with her. "And how are you today, hmm?"

He favors Jordan with a puppy-like look. See, he's your best Two, isn't he? Scratch behind his ears, and his tail might just wag. "Will there be anything further that you require today?"

"I'm..." He pauses to think about the question, getting caught up on actual state of being before realizing she's waiting for an answer. "...good?" People are good, right? That's expected.
