July's Voicetest and Enabling Post [a twofer!]

Here be rules and explanatory things!~
1. Taking part is not mandatory! If you wish to test-drive a new muse, here's the place, but if you'd rather app them without testing - that's perfectly legit, too. :3

2. There are suggestions for scenarios behind the cut. You can use the RNG to roll a relationship and a situation, but you are absolutely free to come up with a scenario of your own. It's more like a friendly suggestion/bit of inspiration from out side.~

3. You may voicetest as many characters at once as you like, and testing them here doesn't make apping mandatory. It's supposed to help you get a hold on the character's voice and to help you decide whether they would fit into the setting or not.

4. Please, keep the following in mind:
a) nothing that happens in this meme is canon or has to be taken into the game. This applies to both the CR and the situation at hand - though if you like it? Talk about it and make it canon once your muse got in.~
b) taking part does not assure that your muse will get into the game.
c) it's just a meme. It's here to help and to have fun, nothing more, nothing less.

As stated above, here is a list of the relationships and scenarios you can roll out in case you don't want to come up with something else or just like randomness a lot.

Relationships
1. Acquaintances - You have seen each other around, but rarely exchanged more than a couple of words. Time to chance that!
2. Friends - What it says on the tin. Maybe you've known each other for a long time, maybe not - whichever works best.
3. Colleagues - For some reason, you two work together a lot - be it cross-suit work or inter-suit things, you keep ending up doing important stuffs together.
4. Lovers - What it says on the tin. Secret or not, just crushing or close to married, it's The Wuv between you two.
5. Exes - When No. 4 went bad. This may or may not get awkward.
6. ENEMIES - You hate each other. That's all there is to say.
7. ??? GO WILD!

Situations
1. Surprise!assignment - For some reason, your King/Queen/whoever decided you two should work together on a gloriously random project. Even crackier when it's off-suit.
2. Suddnely, date. - Can be a blind date, an assignment taking a funny route or an Actual Date (or whatever else, really). Go out, have fun. Wheee.
3. Challenges! - Either that person challenged you, or you challenged that person, or you are going to challenge soon or ... whatever challenge-related scenario you want to have here.
4. Morning After - What happened last night? Where are we? I have no idea, you play it out.
5. Party, PARTY! - It's time to celebrate a thing! IDEC what thing! Maybe it's a masquerade or a fun evening at the Four Suits Pub...
6. Bad Day - For all your emo needs. One person has a bad day, the other comforts them. Or makes it worse. Or anything else.
7. ??? GO WILD.

I would like a P.A. for Elisha. I'm not picky as to PB, rank, gender or age, just someone efficient, personable, and secretive. Probably with a rank between Two and Five, but it's totally up to the player.

I'd also like to enable for Jordan's best friend. Probably a Spade, likely with a calm personality to offset the temper Jordan had as a child. Male, 25-26, mid-to-upper ranked. Chace Crawford would amuse me, but it's totally up to the mun.

A ten of Hearts, Male. Someone that can be the next King of Hearts that Ceiro can possibly appoint to the rank Granted, you still have to app XD BUT It would be nice to just see some male Hearts in general. There are a lot of females up in there. ripe for the pickings.

I kind of think it might be interesting for Julien's biological father to show up. Possibly be a member of the (extended) Bernard family, even. Obviously, they don't know each other and I don't know yet how they'd even discover the connection but. It's a thing. Nagging in the back of my mind.

I would actually love for someone from Johnny's past to show up. Preferably the girlfriend he left behind when he lost his memory and stumbled into the Deck but an alcoholic redneck father is also a possibility if somebody wants to be mean. Or, you know, just somebody who was friends with him at the time. Or a sibling. Basically a person connected to him who will be like, "wtf do you mean you don't remember me?"

More High Diamonds in general, age/gender/PB up to player. We need those. :|

Annie's mom and/or brother.

Lily Riordan is a 6 or 7 of Spades who may have been higher-ranked in her younger days but has slipped since. Roughly in her mid-forties to mid-fifties. She's a rather apathetic parent, which was fine for Martin but not his siblings. PB up to player, but obviously has to bear at least a little resemblance to Eliza Doolittle.

Martin Riordan is 20 and a low-ranked Spade but ambitious and aiming high. He resents his sister for (a) coming back and (b) without Jimmy, their deceased elder brother. However, Annie's kept trying to make peace with him. PB up to player.

Lastly, enabling for Säde's on-Deck family, the Winstons. Säde married into the branch that went off Deck, but as she still uses her husband's name, the on-Deck Winstons consider her family. The Winstons are an old family, but one whose members have rarely made it to a high rank. They tend to top out at Four or Five, occasionally Six. So having a relative for an Ace, even if only by marriage to a distant cousin, is a matter of some conflict. She's using their name, but her husband died under mysterious circumstances (of a stroke, but it's commonly guessed that she poisoned him or something). But she's a Face Card, so they get to boast about that. Säde herself mostly treats them with neutrality (but this is CR that can be hashed out). There are no specific characters in mind for this branch; age/gender/PB is up to the mun.

ETA: PB requests! Lili Ji, Sunna Gottshalk or Jenny Shimizu would be wonderful.

Andrea:

- Any Cruz! It would be nice to have some family members. Well for me at least. The branch (http://www.familyecho.com/?p=TR09E&c=pzl73ssm2b&f=622244304248039521#view:Q9RZB) she's from would be wonderful but it can be from the other three branches that exists. The PB and bits of bio for Andrea's family is there but it's completely up for change for any prospective players. Anyone out of the family is a wildcard (geddit? geddit?) so any PB, personality, history is a go.

- Anyone interested can read up on this (http://houseofcrack-rp.livejournal.com/209275.html?thread=5912187#t5912187) to get a general idea what the family is like. For those who can't go through four pages worth of words, a TL;DR: The Cruz is a Spades family that settled into the Deck a 100 years ago and made a name for themselves through shady deals, playing the politics of the Deck Court and not being a afraid to backstab (figuratively and literally) others or even each other. They're a secretive, sneaky family and are not afraid to do dirtier things to get what they want. They're currently in a tense situation among each other since there isn't really a clear successor for Head, my character is the technical heiress for the position but doesn't truly qualify for it due to stipulations, and want themselves or their children to be on top.

- Her mother, Dao-Ming, Seven of Spades. Dao-Ming's PB is Joan Chen but this is up for change for any prospective players if they wish to use another PB.

- A quick brief of Dao-Ming: Originally a nice Club, Dao-Ming fell in love with Shing K. Cruz and married him. She toughened and sharpened up to keep up with the then environment of the Spades to the point she willingly rallied behind King Sean and Meade, until they both fell of course. A stern, icy woman thanks to her years in the Suit and hates being seen as weak. Has a tense relationship with Andrea due to bad blood that occurred in the past (and recently.). Is currently the Head of the Cruz since Shing's death and is having trouble holding the position as of late, struggling to keep hold of the family. Will give more detail to any interested players if they want and because this got long already. Willing to also change her personality and history with the cooperation of the player if they wish to do so~

- Frederick Stewart-Jarrett (name is up for changing, just needed to put a name on the idea I had), Any Rank from Any Suit. PB is but can be changed by the player if they wish to do so~

- A quick brief of Frederick: Originally raised in the Spades and from a family that consisted mostly of low ranked Cards, Frederick was soon assigned to become a servant for the Cruz staff, specifically Andrea's. He and Andrea struck a friendship and were thick as thieves. But then he created the Valentine's Incident and not only made Andrea break off her friendship with him out of fear but have him eventually transferred to another Suit by the pressuring of the Cruz who were enraged by what he had done. Whatever happened to him next after these events, and what he's like now, is up to the player and willing to give more detailed information about him and his then-relationship with Andrea if they wish to have more idea on what to do~

For Calypso I would love, love, love for someone to bring in her husband Galen, preferably PBed by Josh Duhamel. He was serving in Afghanistan and went MIA about two years ago and has since been determined to be KIA, but that doesn't need to have been how it actually went down. He wouldn't necessarily have to be a Spade, since Callie and co. are currently living in Town.

For Rachel, I'd like for someone to either pick up her father, Caleb Caustello (Clubs), or one of the Givenchy brothers (Diamonds) who tormented her back when she was still rising up the ranks. I think I had PB ideas for all three, but I can't quite recall right now who.

Finally, PB/kinda character-wise, for metalulz I'd love a Diamond played by Eric Bana. My thoughts are that he could have been living/helping defend the Outposts, possibly a single father, and of relatively high Rank. He may also be a potential love interest for Rachel if you're so inclined, but ssh. Also a PB plug for Chris Pine and Evan Rachel Wood, if we don't have them yet?

I'd like it very much if someone would pick up Kitty (Katriane Odile Veronique Berthier) Sophie's youngest sister and arguably the nicest (?) of the bunch. She more of a follower than a leader in the Sisters Three. Basically you can make her occasionally catty or full out mean girl. Your choice. She's PBed by a younger version of Portia di Rossi (http://scarletticons.insanejournal.com/17361.html) but I'm open to any PB. The important thing is Kitty has white-gold hair. Dimples are a plus since they run in the family. (Lotty is not up for grabs since she's targeted as a challenge. Irene is NPCed by Muzy who already does a great job.)

Katya would very much like a PA, and since there is a dearth of males in the Deck lately, I request a guy if possible (not for romantic purposes, just to add some more testosterone to the Deck). A female is okay if that's what you'd prefer. The PA should be a rank between 3-6, loyal and trustworthy, close-mouthed so people don't finagle intel from him/her. They need to be competent, efficient, diplomatic and not easily cowed.

Men. The Deck needs more men in general. Also, I would love to see less stereotypes among the Suits. Stop with the evil/crazy Spades and light and fluffy Hearts. Clubs and Diamonds have their own stereotypes, but I haven't had coffee and am out of adjectives. Twist the expected. The most interesting characters (to me) are the ones who don't quite fit the mold. It can be fun seeing how they they actually fit into a certain Suit.

For Karin: A ranking Club (eight or higher). She needs someone who she can approach when problems are above her head. A member of Elisha's spy network wouldn't be a bad thing, as this is who she'll be going to instead of the new King. Ideally, this would be someone with a job in the Castle.

For Tally: A protege/younger sibling figure. Someone who has been trained by Tally for years, likely someone who assists her with the summer camp program. While I lean toward a preference for a female in this position, I think age is more important: no oldet than 24, so there's a significant gap and a real mentor-student relationship. Diamond strongly preferred, but I think it's possible to make something interesting of a student from another Suit who showed major promise before age 15.

NPCs For Sandy
Zhorak Molyneux (a cousin): Zhorak is three months to a few years younger than his eldest cousin Sandy and can be 2 -5 in Hearts or Clubs (usually the Molyneux remain in Hearts, but there's always been close ties with the other Soft Suit). He's the eldest of Sunnae and Frederick's children and has two other siblings (whose genders are not determined yet). There's a family streak of eccentricity and it's usually clearly seen in Zhorak. The name Zhorak was given because of Frederick coming from a Macedonian family. The name can easily be changed to another Macedonian name or Zhorak can be known as 'Zack' as a nick name. I'd prefer a blonde or sandy haired PB and would love to suggest Hunter Parrish.

His occupation is open to whatever the enabled sees fit.

NPCS for Meghana.
Kanja Sankaran (brother): Kanja is the boy who was raised to be the would be King of Spades until David took over when he was 14. And Kanja found he was okay with this and discovered right away he wasn't really meant to be anything else. So, for the last ... 20 years he's been trying to deal with the fact he won't become a King. He's slightly selfish and has issues with his younger sister. Currently he is a Something of Clubs. Meghana's climb up to Ten and her violence just made him sick of being a Spade. Kanja currently is 34.

His occupation is open to whatever the enabled sees fit.

For the Deck in General
Cards of Non-European backgrounds; the first set of playing cards came from China and there's strong histories of playing cards in the Ottoman Empire (Turkey), India, and Egypt. Therefore it seems fitting that many of the early immigrants from the Outside to the Deck are not from Europe. I'd love the idea that one of these families actively introduced playing cards to their home land.

Short description: Justin started out getting brought into the Spades by Julien to be his go-fer. He previously was apparently living on the streets and quite a skilled pickpocket with a big mouth. Which was just fine until he finally pushed Victor too far and he "accidentally" skewered one of Justin's hands in a sparring session. While not exactly permanently maimed, he was at least unable to actually keep up the nimbleness of his fingers that he was used to. That, combined with an offer to go to the Hearts where he might be treated better means that's where Justin's been for the past some-odd months. Presumably, he's grown up a bit in the intervening time and learned how to be a real boy.

Openly gay, Darien possesses a razor-sharp, often cruel wit and a lack of patience for idiocy. For whatever reason, Rowan's family hadn't gotten the. Essays she wanted nothin to do with their ridiculous plots to make her a proper lady. They had, however, managed to send her up to meet Darien, who wasn't just a friend of her, but most importantly another high ranking card from yet another couple of big, old families, just like the Justices; he was most likely one of thefew friendships of hers they weren't a tad too critical about, and the only reason she had accepted, really.

So there she was, sittig outside some fashionable cafe, feeling ridiculous. St least she had managed to leave that house in jeans and a jacket, although they were several times fancier and more expensive than her usual clothes, usually intended to get dirty and broken. Well, she at least looked 'like a lady' according to her mother.

Ro is an event coordinator, especially centered around the security of said events (anything from a large meeting of people within the castle to formal meetings between the Face Cards, either her or all the Suits, as long as they happen in Heart Castle). Edith-Felicie has only been back in the Deck, the proper Deck which had to be emphasized to the wounded warrior, for only two weeks and she's already making it hell for the kiddies. Well now. That's what the Suit gets for making Edith-Felicie the new official trainer of the Hearts.

"Put your BACK into it now, CARDLINGS. Have those ELBOWS sweating NOW." Who gave her a megaphone? How did she even realize the creation of megaphones? Did they want to doom the Hearts that were under her training regimen at the moment? Before she can shout at more support for the Cards doing laps, only 10 to go!, she spots the Eight of Hearts nearby. Swoosh goes the megaphone as she aims it at Rowan, skereeeech goes the megaphone as Edith-Felicie adjusts the settings."HELLO there, ROWAN. What brings you OVER HERE to our little TRAINING session?"

As years have passed, hes gone down in rank and taken a desk job. Now, he's coming to look for a job inside the Castle, to be closer to the doctors and to Deck events.

She smiles to herself imagining Ace's reaction to that observation. Katya is not certain she wishes to be managed way she used to manage her officers back in old days, but it is true her office would run more smoothly if someone with more bite and training took over for Bethany, who tended to jump every time Katya looked cross. So she mentioned possibility to Urania one day in passing, no hurries, no active search, simply thought to keep on back burner.

And now here is Constantin Lourens standing before her. She remembers him from her days in HR mainly as being someone she never needed to worry about, already plus in his favor. She nods to chair. "Please, have seat, Mr. Lourens. Tell me about yourself."
