I suspect Alasdair at least knows him by sight; he doesn't have him in his classes yet, but the Deck isn't big enough for teachers not to recognize students at the school.

Emily Smythe-Jones

Emily is, in brief, an accomplished con artist with law training (Princeton Law). She ran straight into the Deck a full decade ago after an argument with her fiance (over the fact that her current identity, Sarah LeClerc, didn't actually exist) turned fatal.

She's been a Nine for a year and a half, and runs legal affairs for the Spades, as well as doing the occasional con/blackmail operation off-Deck for the Suit.

She's been in the Deck a lot longer than Monty has, but he ran his operation both in the States and western Europe. It's also possible it takes one to know one?

Cynric has been popping in and out of the Deck for about a decade now, and is finally settling in for a proper stint as one of the Jokers. He's pretty migrant, and has probably popped up in most people's lives here and there now and then. Spades from circa 30 years ago might recognize him faintly, and Hearts from the last 20 years might recognize his twin brother {history here (http://hamelinic.livejournal.com/925.html)}.

Terese "Tess" Bowen

Say hi to Tess, a veterinarian to the various and sundry animals on Deck!

Tess has five stepbrothers/sisters, seventeen nieces and nephews, ten cousins who between them have twenty-eight kids. Some people might think the Bowens are trying to take over the Deck through assimilation! Her biological father, Marc Bowen, is a Diamond with an eye for the ladies (and gents). Tess has seven other siblings that she's aware of besides the five stepsiblings.

Hobbies: animals of all sorts, her bicycle, making paper airplans and flying kites, dancing, board games of all types, pool and darts.

She's been around forever. Give me all the CR? Old flames/spurned lovers/bffs are a go!

Hello again, darlings! I give to you Felicia Eden Harper, Seven of Diamonds and fashionista extraordinaire. She's 29 and an Army Brat from Outside who grew up all over the place--most notable being ages 14-18 in London, 18-21 in Boston, and 21-23 in NYC. She's been on-Deck for about 5 years now and has likely tried to coerce every one of you into an outfit that would be just perfect for you at least once. I welcome every flavor of CR, as she's a total social butterfly. Friends! Models! Ex-boyfriends! Ex-girlfriends! One night stands! Serial flirters! She gets around.

Clearly, she tries to take Avery under her wing and make her dress in an appropriately Diamond-like manner and is occasionally successful. XD

Social butterfly fashionistas must be friends, so. She and Zoe must know each other. She goes to Eden for special occasion dresses and just serious retail therapy, and also to just pore over Every Single Variety of Vogue. She does an awesome model walk that she tried to teach Sophie last year.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE...she could be one of Elisha's exes. They aren't far apart in age, and he dated around a lot. OR, second verse same as the first, Eden could totally have been one of the girls Alasdair spent his twenties daydreaming over. I am open.

Emily will shop with her. Briony just wants to keep her jeans and sweaters please.

Carmella Montenegro | Q ♣

Just thought I'd pop round to stir things up as a Face. Most in Club castle will have seen Carmella in the background. She was the Clubs' housekeeper and Argine's lady-in-waiting. She kept a low profile so people from other Suits will not have any idea who she is, unless they are among her maternal relatives working in the castle households. The Chives' family may know of the Rhubarbs (her mother's maiden name).

Carmella wavers from prim and no-nonsense to motherly. She's a bit like those special teachers who you remember for years afterwards. You know, the ones who are fair and have the correct approach in dealing with individual personalities within a class.

I may bring her sister out NPCly. I could possibly be enabling for her husband, Jonathan. I imagine his PB as Jack Davenport but I've not written too much about his history and personality so you can have some creative freedom with that.

Elani Claire Deirdre McCartney - Jack of Clubs

So, Elani isn't a new character but since she got accepted as Jack of Clubs, sticking her in here too if anybody has CR they'd like to state or discuss developing further or...whatever.

Anyway, she's 21, she's been Eileen's musical-type tutor for the last....almost two years, I think. She's gotten in to arranging a lot of various events for the Deck which is presumably how she caught Elisha's attention for this.

She won't actually be ICly announced until tomorrow, I believe.

She has a pretty good idea of what Jack entails since she was close to both of the previous Jacks, Tegan and Lancelot. And of course she's on good terms with 99.99% of the Deck, so presumably that will help. :)

Oyotunde is a mirthful man, who works hard, believes that earning respect is important, and wants to help his suit excel as individuals and that will allow them to excel as a group.

He's 38, Nigerian by way of Egypt, been in the deck 17 years, he likes classical music, any food probably, and he has 'face card Casual Fridays' at Heart Castle, where at least HE wears jeans and a comfortable polo, instead of 'fancy office wear'. (Thank you Avery. Blythe, Annie)

So hi guys, I'm new, the name is Scy and this is Michael Brennan. I didn't really talk about myself in the chat so I'll say something brief. I'm a Masters student in the School of Psychology at the University of Auckland in New Zealand, working on a thesis at the moment - or I should be, anyway, but I've been procrastinating a lot. Actually while I'm here I can be shameless. I wonder if you guys could spare me half an hour to do a survey about Facebook and death (https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/M6C6NCW), the results of which will feature in my dissertation =) I need like 93 more participants so I would really, really appreciate it if you could help, but don't feel obliged or anything.

Shameless advertising aside, I guess I also split my time between work, making bases/icons and gaming. I can't promise to be doing stuff here daily but I'm hoping you lot can be a little more patient with me as I pursue this mysterious elusive work-leisure balance.

Back to the RP, Michael Brennan is a 10 of Spades and is Julien's biological father. Outside of that I don't really know anyone and don't have any lines in mind. I'd love to work stuff out with people.

I'm bad at summarising stuff so here's a wall of text. He was born into the Spades when it wasn't a good time to be in the Spades, and he left for like 20 years. He came back into the fold like around 17 years ago and leisurely worked his way up the ladder to 10. He might not be so approachable at first but he's a nice guy once you get to know him. He's quite a bit older than most of the other cards so he's probably more, sort of... laid-back, patient, doesn't get riled up easily, takes things slow, etc. Not very Spade-y I suppose but I guess that means he'll be easier to get along with? =)

I'm on AIM a lot as long as I'm not on Guild Wars 2 but if you never see me on AIM, it's because of timezone differences. Flick me an e-mail and I'll get back to you ASAP. Cheers!

Hiiii, I'm Ana and we've already talked some. :)

So this is Elani and she was recently made the Jack of Clubs. Prior to that she was an Eight and I dunno if she'd know Michael (though she tends to know a lot of people) but he'd probably be aware of her not just because she's gotten into helping organize a lot of the musical-type events in the Deck in the past year or so but also because she was in a relationship with one of the prior Jacks of Clubs (Lancelot) and he had a long-term friendship-tension-something thing with Julien.

maystillcrow is Pete, Elisha (the King of Clubs') personal assistant and part-time writer for The Daily Trump, the Deck newspaper. Another one I'm not sure would have much to do with Michael but we can see!

fiddlerjohnny is Johnny, a Four of Hearts and sort of the Court Musician. He's a damn good fiddle player, anyway, and was close to the prior King of Hearts. He's also got a bit of wanderlust and spends a lot of time Outside.

so_complicit is Davin Bernard, an Eight of Spades, and sort of vaguely in Michael's age range 42,(and his sister who isn't in the game anymore, was banished a bit ago but back in the day before Medea was killed, she was a Spade and trained a lot of the Spades in Julien's generation. She's also about Michael's age, so anyway all of that is to say there could be some sort of connection there). I don't know if that sentence actually made sense. But moving on! Davin procures hard-to-find items (particularly if they need to be found on the black or grey markets) Outside for clients on the Deck, mostly Spades, but he's done it for others too. He also enjoys playing pool. :)

And then there's Julien (acethatmatters). So he came to the Deck a bit before Michael returned to it at the age of 17/18 and basically jumped right into the rank of 6 by challenging the clerk that was trying to sign him in as a 2. Ahem. He proceeded to steadily work his way up the ranks (though we must point out he never actually killed anyone in any of his challenges) and do his damnedest to become the best Spade there ever was. Upon witnessing Athena's challenge of Medea, he decided Athena was the Queen he would follow and basically put her up on this goddess-type pedestal, he was willing to do anything for her.

He also worked it so that the previous Ace of Spades met a very unfortunate accident (that's also how he sort of semi-broke up with Lance, hah, because somewhere in there he had to betray him in order to do this. We never worked out the details, so anyway!) and Athena chose him to be the new Ace of Spades.

Last year, she had him murder the then-King of Clubs at a Spade masquerade ball as a warning to the Clubs. It sort of ended up becoming a big backfiring kind of problem and they framed a Spade named Marcus to take the heat. Marcus ended up getting executed for the crime by the Clubs. Later, she and Julien had a short-lived affair (she was married to David, the just-left King of Spades) and then not too long after that she disappeared with no warning from the Deck, running away with her newest lover. Julien kind of lost it a bit and had a knock-down-drag-out fight with David over it and then got stinking drunk and wailed to Lance and things. Afterward, he decided to give up on putting people on pedestals and to put all his energy toward serving the Suit and not particular people in it.

Uhm. He's got slightly sociopathic (ahahahahah) tendencies due to his upbringing (which I can ramble on about too if you really wanted), loves his knives, plays all the card games, and seems to be perpetually grouchy. Also he is grooming the Ace of Clubs (she's like. 13.) to be his mini me.

And I think he might just have something to do with Michael but I can't quite put my finger on it....
