Plot Most Wanted!
We were discussing how sometimes it can be hard to figure out things for our characters to get involved in or maybe we're not sure what to do to develop meaningful CR with other characters...hopefully this will help.
Basically, the idea is:
So, here's what I've managed to run down in the discussions below. Trying to summarize them all more or less to give folks an idea of what's been come up with and maybe what they can see about getting involved in and just making it easier to remember what was discussed. If I made a mistake or need to add/remove/change something, you can leave a comment here or PM the mod account or whatever floats your boat. :)
Elani
Justin
Alasdair
Cadogan
Tess
Johnny
Elisha
Jordan
Zoe
Teresa
Leigh
Cynric
Eileen
Evan
Katya
Sophie
Maggie
Rachel
Rowan
Adrien
Blythe
Basically, the idea is:
- Post a comment with a list of whichever characters you'd like to develop some kind of plot or CR for.
- Make sure to put in what you're interested in doing if you've got any ideas
- Look around other people's comments and if you see something you'd like to get one of your characters involved in...discuss!
- Make a connection and make the magic happen. :)

-
Julien
- Possibly doing upper-level training for Amy and Sophie (and pissing Säde off by showing Sophie some moves that exploit Säde's theoretical weak points).
- Sparring with and keeping an eye on Jordan's budding intelligence network (and dropping a line to Katya about the latter).
- Pierre "accidentally" letting her know all the gory details about his "jobs" off-Deck and her reaction to this darker side of being a Face and dealing with it. Elisha possibly linefacing all of the place at Pierre.
- Learning BSL with Cadogan. (and it occurs to me now: she could practice on/with Sophie? Others?)
- Possibly learning firearms from Cadogan. Which might get an interesting reaction from her and everyone who knows her and her aversion to martial things. (and again occurs to me now that since the firing range is Maggie's that that could lead to interesting conversations with her too?)
- Issues with Alasdair regarding trust (the Tess thing, possibly her coming back from Outside-vacation gushing about Evan's lovely roomie, Phillipe that Alasdair can throw back at her. Also the whole 'finding out he's a successful author and has been keeping this a secret from her' thing).
- Somebody's informant. I think we were rolling with Maggie?
- Also threads with Blythe where she's keeping an eye on him for Theo. May also have similar something happening because of Rowan and head of security and Queen-ness? (should he feel honored by all the attention?)
- Gets into fisticuffs with one of the older Xiu kids. Has to work for Iggy for a while to make up for it.
- Keeping something secret with Tess, thus leading to misunderstandings with Elani about the nature of their relationship. Helping her with her dyslexia? Talking about a vet character for one of his books? Something about getting a service dog for his father?
- People discover Alasdair's secret successful mystery writer career. Evan, Rita, and Iggy involved? (Riley already knows but also involved somehow?)
- Teaching/helping Cynric to learn to read.
- Because of the sekrit-whatever between Alasdair and Tess mentioned above, also has to work out the nature of his relationship with her.
- Training Sophie in All the Things?
- Possibly something with Tess and Thyme having kittens. Or ducklings imprint on her? All the crazy animals go to Diamonds.
- Something about a learning disability and Alasdair and Evan helping? Dyslexia?
- Some kind of "tired of being the go-to person for the family" thing with Iggy?
- Learning about serial monogamy with Cadogan.
- Would like to see her no-account wastrel father (PB'd by Richard Gere?) show up in the game if anyone is interested in playing him.
- Having to actually have a real relationship with someone. Possibly Rowan. Who can call him on all his bullshit and he has to deal with it. Possibly having girls from his past show up and screw that up for him because he's a hearbreaker, etc. (bonus points if somebody brings in Alasdair's sister, Amelia, and does that).
- On that note: Cynric calling him on his bullshit and them making a deal that Johnny will help him with reading if Johnny works on growing up.
- Choosing an NPC Queen of Clubs in June because it's gotten ridic that it's taken him this long to find one. Probably choosing out of the pool of people that have been helping Elani. High-ish Card. Named Lucy Morgan? And then whoever eventually plays the Queen of Clubs can either app her, or app like she's challenging her, or something. And Gideon will be giddy.
- Building up an intelligence network. Possibly by intercepting returning field-agents when they come back from Outside. Probably keeping Clive in the loop and Katya but also watched by Julien. Possibly Jordan also screws something up in the process of this and drama for all. Getting advice from Maggie.
- Challenging to Nine in a few months.
- Uncovering people from several places in the Deck embezzling money. Working with Säde, Iggy, Rita, Monty, and Katya.
- Finding out details of what Victor does on his work-trips off-Deck and fallout from that.
- Getting into trouble with Sophie?
- Gideon helping her with a
raccooncatpisky problem. - Family drama?
- Raphael has to work in the coffeeshop for a while due to working off Cynric (and Johnny's?) coffee bill.
- Discovering her sexuality. Crushing on Avery. Eileen linefacing about feeling like she's losing her bestie. Säde has a minor freakout. Riley helps her muddle through.
- Learning guitar from Dillon. And they start a band?
- The Strad gets scratched and Cynric has a crisis in the middle of Teresa's coffeeshop? Probably with Johnny commiserating. And Raphael dragging Cynric out of the coffeeshop by his ankles and tossing him in the ocean.
- Harpsichord shopping with Sophie.
- Fawning over Katya and her bandura?
- Maggie recognizing him as his twin brother. Or that once upon a time he was a Spade. Or something.
- Learning more about the Eicheln branch of her family. Getting Rachel to tell her about them.
- Sees Julien laying a harsh lesson on a younger, female student. Is slightly disillusioned by her mentor seeing him in action in that fashion since she's actually been a little sheltered from seeing it.
- McCartney's come soon to visit for a couple of days him at school. Beginning of June he drops the bombshell that he's moving back to the Deck in July. Much conversations along the lines of, "BUT WHAT ABOUT YOUR ~DREAMS~?!?!?! D:" with Elani. Possibly an actual argument between the siblings ensues.
- Before he comes back for realz..."one last run" to South America (or somewhere) with Monty. Gunshot wounds happen. Family finds out about Evan's sordid adventures Outside (finally).
- Possible Challenge or assassination plot because Old Deck Families don't really actually approve of an upstart-from-Outside Queen who was chosen for the position instead of earning it?
- Starting a museum for the Deck. Possibly in the tower at the center of the Green (with the option for expansion). Possibly in chateau Berthier. Possibly somewher else. /handwave. She can petition the various Suits for support, etc. Getting help on the subject from Jordan.
- Training with Julien.
- Working with Rowan regarding Heart security. (Hence the need for informers like Justin?)
- Getting in a relationship for real? (with Ben?)
- Family drama in that the secret about her family's thieving past gets out? In-Suit drama regarding her suitability as Queen of Hearts?
- Proposing marriage to Sophie.
- Challenging to Seven.
- Keeping Justin in line.
- Fight with Monty about the adventure he has with Evan?

Also, he has taken up training adult students that show promise or are going to go Outside and need some specialized skills. We could talk about that too, if you want.
Elani: Well, the party's over and she's back to just doing plain old Jack-things and helping Elisha with the Queen's duties.
Personally, would like to maybe see about some sort of negative CR for her to work through or learn to deal with since she generally gets along with most people.
If anybody has any ideas for things that can come up to test her abilities as Jack, I'd be game for doing that too as I'd like to give her something serious to work on and grow with.
Justin: Kind of at loose ends. In general, I like playing the mouthy bastard, but I'd like to actually give him something vaguely productive to do so he can actually become a member of society. If somebody wants a lackey to train up into acting like a real adult, it could be fun to play out how that works.
Heck, if somebody just wants to use him as an informant since most characters just write him off when he's lounging around making a nuisance of himself, we could work that out too. Or you know, if you want him to contribute to the delinquency of any minors.
I might also just straight up get him a job to do in Town. Just...there aren't too many business owners actually played by PCs for him to get hired by and again, I'd rather him be doing something like that with an actual character as opposed to an NPC.
Johnny: Itinerant musician, sometimes smarmy bastard, many times moocher of drinks. Uh, anyway.
I would like to see some of his past misdeeds come back and haunt him, like all the hearts he's supposedly broken. Or, for that matter, see him finally grow up a bit and try to settle down with one person for a while.
While I don't think he's ever going to stop being an itinerant musician...possibly he could take on a student or two? I think, while he did a reasonably good job with Cynric, if he had to try to teach music to someone who has no previous experience, it would be quite frustrating for him despite his own skill. It's one thing to understand it, after all, and quite another to get it across that someone else does. Might make for an interesting dynamic between him and the prospective student, anyway.
Just some babbling, if I think of anything else, I'll add another comment.
Because I'm a sadomasochist
I don't know if Amy counts as "showing promise" in his book, but she did just stab a bitch in the heart over the weekend, so who knows. Ethan just dismissed her from his tutelage, so she'll be looking for another instructor, if Julien thinks he can handle that shit.
Elani: would like to maybe see about some sort of negative CR for her to work through or learn to deal with since she generally gets along with most people.
...Pierre hates her soul. We should work on building that CR up even though it's more negative than my STD tests.
things that can come up to test her abilities as Jack
Also he kills people. That's what Elisha keeps him for. Oh, he's discreet, but what if, for one reason or another, she had to know, and he comes home, and she's the one who has to take his report.
There is so much glee happening in his heart right now at the thought of her face if she knew and had to face it.
JUST MY THOUGHTS.

Jordan probably wouldn't train with Julien since he was trained from the age of five by Julien's trainer but Julien could notice him building his intelligence network?

Okay not really. But he could possibly get into a fight with one of the Xiu teens and Iggy could make him work off his punishment in the office. Maybe?

Elani: Mentioned to Muzy, but if Tess and Alasdair worked on something that had to be kept secret misunderstandings could ensue. Would also want to run that by Qi. It doesn't help with the Jack issue but might provide some conflict on the home front.
Justin: He's welcome to inform for Maggie. She did imply he would make a good informant for the person currently running security for the Hearts, though not sure he realized that's what she was hinting at.

Johnny: He and Rowan seem to get on pretty well so if you want to try for the settling with them? Or maybe an attempt at settling that keeps getting undermined by Suddenly All the Chicks from his Past showing up, idk :|a I am on allergy meds and a bit floofy.

Alasdair: I would like someone to discover his secret successful mystery writer career but I'm not sure how to make it happen - I don't really think it should necessarily be Elani that does it, though, he does have friends who should be noticing a certain frantic writing lately. Also, Riley knows and could conceivably let it slip at some point. BUT IT NEEDS TO COME OUT HALP.
Elisha: Is choosing an NPC Club Queen next month because it's been forever, it's becoming ridiculous, and it's not really fair to blame him for not picking a Queen when he's had no choice in the matter. XD She will only have a name in case someone actually ever wants to apply for Queen at some point. That's all I have for him, really, though I wouldn't say no to someone plotting against him.
Jordan: Is depressed, kind of hates his job, and has basically been spinning his wheels since becoming a Spade. I would really like that to change, and THIS IS MY PLAN. He is going to start building his own intelligence network by intercepting Cards returning from Outside and extracting information. This information will go to Clive and Katya, because Jordan is loyal when it suits him to be, but I would love it if someone got irritated at his presumption. He will also be challenging to Nine in the next several months.
Zoe: Is happily married, in the job she's wanted since becoming a Spade, and now has nothing to do. No ambition to advance further and nothing causing turmoil in her personal life. She needs conflict, and I'm coming up dry.
no subject
And yeah, it would probably be better if someone else discovered the writer thing. I mean, she could. She's definitely aware of the frantic writing, but it would be cool for someone else to be able to, too.
Elisha: Elani and her little cadre of helper Tens thank you.
Jordan: We're already sort of discussing this up above.
Zoe: I still personally kind of like the "uncovering several people in different Suits collaborating on stealing money" thought for her to work through. Gives her something to do and a reason to go interact with other folks that's not just, you know. Shoe shopping. :) Doesn't really provide her direct conflict with another player character though unless somebody wanted their character to be involved in the theft. :|a

Can I vote the NPC name being Lucy Morgan or am I not allowed.
And I would. Tentatively say Declan might be a little displeased about Jordan mucking with the natural order of things, but. He probably wouldn't do much about it, so that might. Not be help at all.

Jordan: I know we talked about where that's going. The problem is that Katya plays her cards close to her chest most of the time and hasn't told him she's seeing what he can do. He could chafe under the "boring" assignment and they could argue?
Zoe: there's the ultimate of her finding out more about Victor's unsavory doings, but that's probably not what you're looking for. Katya would be very interested in embezzlement. Monty could help her sound people out since he deals more with unsavory stuff?

I hypothesized above that Iggy could be involved in the Alasdair is Fucking Famous Guys plot, since the Xius publish the Stacy Wheelock books. Also, he could get fed up and move into Alasdair's spare bedroom for a couple weeks. I would be up for that.

Iggy: I'm certain it's probably that the two most prolific families would eventually have members become interested in each other. Cousins/siblings for whatever reason unsuitable (perhaps Tess learns her father is the father of both--which probably wouldn't work since Iggy's family sounds more sane than her own). For whatever reason, Tess and Iggy could be drawn into that. Then again, it doesn't get them away from the family thing. Maybe they get fed up being the go to person in their respective families and go on strike?

Katya: I know Katya's a BAMF and I hope others think she is. The problem is that she never really has the opportunity to show it. As Queen she tends to keep hands off (or as she says, never have any fun) and delegate matters. My head canon says not all the old families are happy with an upstart Outsider being handed Queen rather than
killing forearning it. Could there be an assassination plot that unravels? A challenge? Word of advice, all Katya's challenges one way or the other ended in her opponant's death (read, she engineered any that weren't outright kills). Therefore, a challenger would need to be a dropping character no one really cares about or an NPC, which then makes it look like I'm engineering things. I suppose I sort of am since I obviously want her to retain her rank!Maggie: How does her garden grow? Is someone stealing from her personal plants? Her medicinal weed? I've always thought of her as their self-appointed spy and enforcer when the powers that be were unwilling to go that route. Perhaps someone found out and talks to her about it? Perhaps she needs to take care of a certain problem (this could tie in with someone else's plot if wanted).
Monty: Really needs plotty stuff because I'm at a loss for stuff to do with him. He's a con man, so it takes one to know another. Maybe he stumbles upon something? Maybe the people who've been trying to kill him Outside finally track him down. (Meh. That sounds an awful lot like the last big plot [Outside finding the Deck] so that probably wouldn't work?) I got nothing. Help?
Sophie: Sophie will be giving up the library proper when she advances to Nine (i.e., when I write up her challenge). She would love to start a deckwide Museum, and I probably will have her do something with that (proposing the idea, working out the logistics, convincing the Suits to contribute, etc.). I'm open for any ideas if you'd like to see her do something. She hasn't had much conflict in her life lately.
Tess: I need some other things for Tess to do. She's begun a tentative Thing with Cadogan, something which she has absolutely NO experience with. She's more the flirt and good times sort of person. I'd love for someone to pick up her no account biodad, Marc (PB tentatively Richard Gere). He's a flirt and a wastrel and has populated the entire Deck with his byblows. Tess finds him infuriating and embarrassing, but he is family. Problems with her mom, Bridget (she of the 5' nothing frame who decked Marc when he knocked her up) who's main goal in life right now seems to be trying to marry her daughter off would be cool, too.
Mainly, I need something else other than work and avoiding her family for her to do. As usual, got nothing.
no subject
Monty - maybe he could stumble on an angle in the embezzlement plot? Overhear things in one of the bars, perhaps?
Sophie - There's always the possibility of her "checking" on the library frequently and irritating whoever takes over from her. Of course, that only works if that's a PC. Jordan was supposed to put together a museum when he was a Heart, after he and Ceiro found the artifact, so he's done some work there and could help.
Tess - if we figure out what she and Alasdair are secretly doing? XD

At first I was just thinking I could kind of go with having it be a thing I kind of play on my own with NPC outposts head guardsman guy that I thought up a while ago, but considering how big this would be for her life I kind of now want it to be with a PC (either someone picking up Mr. Guardsman Guy or her falling for someone PC'd now or something along those lines.)
Alternatively, since she's been adjusting to things pretty well, I kind of want something to come up that would make her feel all torn again between her health/happiness and duty. That may be more of a game-wide plot, though, so idk. I do know she wants to get her ass down to the outposts again so maybe that can be weaved in with something.
----
Rowan: It would tickle me to no end and make her go bonkers if either a family member/someone who knew her/of the Wayletts' reputation Outside made their way to the Deck, or if that somehow came out through someone investigating something on the side. Also, some in-Suit drama like Song was saying could happen with Katya would be an interesting thing to see-- either Deck natives being all fussy that their Queen is an Outsider or just someone thinking she's not "experienced enough" (considering she only made it to Nine really recently before she was selected for the position.) Or some other maybe Security-related shenanigans. :|a
----
Teresa: She's too happy, and, being me, I can't have that. :| Or not even that she's happy, it's just that she's just kind of stagnant. So maybe some drama with the coffee shop or some drama with her family (thinking more along the lines of her bro Lionel doing something stupid-- some kind of security breach in the Clubs that he gets tangled up in?) or just some new relationships in her life. Come at me, bros.

Does Teresa want a Joker with a scuffed violin to take over the middle of her coffee shop floor. Is that a good amount of drama. :|a

Blythe: Um help alert she's way too happy. Can someone please fuck with her life somehow. Just a little. This is the plot I want. I would appreciate that very much. <3
Piper: Her whole ~figuring out things~ is plodding along, but... she doesn't have much plot besides that. And although having her jump into things is fun, I would just like for her to have more things to do (also more CR? if anyone wants to work something out, just hit me up).
Riley: I ACTUALLY NEED HELP. I need her to start training in something Granny James will deem 'useful' (aka, not basketball) but not something that will trigger the hemophobia (she's working on it, but it's not ~magically gone~). So if anyone has ideas, please tell me. :D
Minnie: Minnie needs a quirk. I am toying with the idea of her being really good at watercolor painting or something like that. If anyone wants to discover this, that would be cool. Also any sort of any plotty things you can think of (or, to put it bluntly, anything you can think of that would make her more interesting) would be great!
Edie: Someone come make a band with her. Someone cooler than her lame-ass cousin Dillon. (Also someone pick up her sisters? Hit me up for more details~)

I thought of a thing
So Song was thinking of doing a thing with Katya's position being challenged by old Deck folk, and I was braining possibly a similar thing could happen with Rowan, and I'm sure there's someone out there that doesn't like Elisha and Säde because Outsiders. And considering the last plot bit, maybe there could be a lashing out of the people that already didn't like the Outsider upstarts because now they think that they could be a threat because ~spies~ (although I don't actually know if that was public Deck knowledge, so maybe not entirely that) And then that also could maybe be woven in with people digging up Rowan's past (or trying to) and all them intelligence people over there.
Idk just a thought.
