I swapped one Outsider Diamond for another; Nicholas the shrink will be killed off at the conclusion of the embezzlement plot (I don't think he had major relationships with anyone so it shouldn't be too big of an issue) and in the meantime I've picked up Lucas, who is hopefully going to end up being Rachel's beau if we play our cards right (haha. Cards. Lame.).

The app grew like mould over a two week old sandwich, so the TL;DR version is that he was a soldier who after a leg injury became an aid worker, met a Diamond aid worker and then sort of married into the Diamonds in the late 90s. But unlike a certain father he didn't go off the rails when his wife died. He's more Diamondy on the exterior than the interior. I think he opens up a little easier and it shouldn't be as hard to get to know him.

I'd like to find some friends for him but due to the nature of his job (he's stationed in the Outposts), he doesn't spend much time in the Castle so that kind of limits his other relationships. I'm hoping that maybe after the last plot some people have ventured out to the uh, shifting landscape that is the Outposts and got to know him. Or maybe he could have been doing something with the Arcana that other people were doing too. He could be involved in whatever if that makes things easier - just let me know. (He has a young daughter too, I think she's 9 this year; maybe she can be the reason he goes into the Castle more often - anyway, if you're keen to make friends with this bloke, we'd make it work somehow)

Anyways, yeah, keen for plots if you can put up with my slowness. I might end up focusing more on Nick when the embezzlement plot kicks in but definitely Lucas will be popping up more often after that plot is over. Ta!

He's most likely to know/be aware of Julien (I typed "Julie" first...oops) I suppose. Particularly since Julien did a lot of organizing people around in the last plot so it's theoretically possible they did some form of work together during it.

Johnny might have also wandered out that way...either just because he can't sit still, or to use that outpost as his exit from the Deck for a trip or three (or entrance back in) or...I don't know...short term girlfriend? :|a

Julien, Julie... small difference >_> I'm not sure how they'd get along. I suspect not very well? At least, not beyond getting things done then and there. But they're polite and cordial enough not to mention anything.

Johnny on the other hand, probably can be on good terms. If you did go for short term girlfriend we could do something more substantial since he'd be over more often. Otherwise it might just be 'yeah his face looks kind of familiar...' (unless he stops by and stays for a while, talks to people, etc.)

I could see Johnny having stuck around a bit, maybe played for whatever their local watering hole is since I figure there's at least like a bar/cafe and a general store or something so folks don't have to come all the way into Town whenever they want something.

Yeah I had poked around to see if there was anything about what the Outposts are like, because I hadn't envisioned it to be a sea of nothing with one sad little shed in the middle of nowhere, but it seems like we can paint it however we like. I suspect there'll be a small community there - enough to have like a little township as they'll at least need that general store and watering hole, and probably an infirmary of some sort, possibly a mechanic, etc.

Yeah...the idea is kind of...the people who want to be part of the Deck but really just want to do their own thing...seem to end up populating the Outposts. That and the people who do guarding. I expect there could be some form of rotation between guards who work out of their Castle for a while and then get moved out to their Outpost and so on.

Yeah it sounds perfect for him. Can definitely have encountered Johnny somewhere around there then if he was out there for any stretch of time, as it'd be a small enough community that they'd likely all know each other to some degree.

Sophie was trained to always be aware of high ranking Diamonds, Outpost or not. I'm sure she attended challenges and such, possibly even congratulated him at times. If you decide he was working on Arcana stuff, it's possible they spoke then since Sophie was the Diamond envoy.

You might ask Vi about possibility of Lucas's little girl getting to know Sitara.

I would not be surprised to learn that Sophie instigated some sort of books on wheels thing for people at the Outpost.

I can't think of a reason why he would know anyone else, but am more than willing to make it work. He might know Tess if he has a critter.

Honestly I won't claim to be 100% sure what went down during the Arcana plot which is why I'm quite flexible about it. It seems more useful to have him be involved so we can totally do that.

Books on wheels sounds great, and I'm sure that despite the fact he doesn't read all that much (dyslexic + book = flip table), he'd have picked up a few things for his girl from time to time for sure.

Also, on the off-chance Sophie worked in the library 10 years ago, Lucas used to procure Outside items for the Diamonds since he didn't settle down until after his daughter was born, so they could have known each other way back too.

Several of the Outposts were attacked by people working for the Tower during the Arcana plot. I believe Diamonds were among them. Mostly skirmishes...the one that took the most losses on the Deck side was at Clubs (where Lancelot died).

Outposts got more involved in the more recent "stuff appearing and disappearing" thing. They were working together to keep a watch out for things on the edges since the Deck grew a bit during the time and pushed the Outposts a bit "inland". They also shared duties watching over the "ocean" where the Arcana tower once stood.

Just popping in to add that Diamonds got hit at least twice, IIRC, and I think we had it that at least a few of them died. /o/

I can get you a little more up to speed if you like; pretty sure there's also a drabble or two I've written about her at the outposts that I can let you look at if you want to read them, and I've also got a fair amount of headcanon for the place, too. Just shoot me a line!

Avery and Ben are probably our best bets. Avery is/was Rachel's protegee, and has made some trips to the Outposts - she was headed in that direction last summer when she got in the accident that had her removed as Jack of Diamonds. Ben is in charge of weapons requisitions for Cadogan on the down-low, and still does that in between pub-running, so he's probably been through the Outposts more than most in the last couple of years.

He may know Elisha a bit, since Elisha was in charge of organizing people in the Clubs for the last plot; there was also a recent altercation between a Club and Diamond border guard, so he's likely going to visit the outposts soon anyway.

Definitely don't see why he wouldn't know a fellow Diamond x) I don't suppose she'd mind too much her mentor and some Outposts boy getting together. And there can be all the raised eyebrows at Ben if he's even seen traipsing past with a few sharp objects under his arm.

If there's an Elisha post in the Outposts I'll try to hit it up. I'm not sure he'd know him meaningfully or just peripherally but they could just bump into each other and talk from there if he's coming out to the vanguard ;D

Avery is not what you'd call high in the instep. XD If objections to the relationship come from Diamond Faces, it won't be from her. Ben will just offer a salute and whistle as he drives his Mercedes back to Town.

We will see! Depending on how Elani's current conversation with Pierre goes, Elisha's life is about to get over-complicated. He might head to the Outposts just to clear his head.

Säde is aware of him as a Ten, but I think that would be the extent of it since she doesn't spend time at the Outposts. She might receive his reports or something. It might be possible for his daughter to know Leigh in a big-sisterish way around the castle.

Yeah somehow I don't see him getting to know the Queen all too well since he's kind of far away xD No reason why they can't meet and greet in passing, or talk about work or even Stella and Leigh if it ever comes up as a topic between them. Leigh might probably not feel completely comfortable around him but she should be OK with the daughter.

In passing sounds fine o/ The moment she gets wind of anything serious between he and Rachel she's probably going to pull the shotgun talk, though. Even though she has completely no authority to work with. And maybe Stella gets snuck cookies every once in a while.

If Lucas has had any sort of medical care while in the Deck, I'm sure he's at least acquainted with Theo. And if not...then he should be, darn it. XD. Somehow. Theo's also lost family (his wife and twin girls), so that's also a possible bonding point.

Lucas also might know Juliette--she's been known to ride her horse out to the Outposts sometimes and could possibly be "friends" with his daughter?

Not sure what the Spades would have in common--Ivona's also a Ten, but that's probably it, off the top of my head. Although, I'm good with whatevers, CR is always welcome!

Well we could have it so that he's had a combat-related challenge before and the other person went for the old injured leg or something, which would then lead to Theo >=D They can start bonding sometime afterwards over drinks or something.

I'd be scared to let Juliette near any nine year old girl but he can be oblivious to it and just be friendly XD He'd definitely notice her assuming that he won't see much horse-riding out there.

And Ivona. Oh, Ivona. Ivona would probably eat him alive LOL. They are probably both good with languages since he was born a diplomat's son and would have been around everywhere but that's about where the commonalities end XD

EDIT: If you want she could have possibly known him through the wife who is old Diamond family (if the Wolves are well-connected with other Suit old families), but that might make for even more Lucas feeling completely inadequate and Ivona just winning at life.

Lol, yeeeah, might be best to just avoid the Black Sharpies for the time being, just see how things play out over the game. Who knows, there might be something that crops up! XD (That and Ivona doesn't need any more justifications for being a total bitchy Spade, ffflol)

But, yes. These two def. know each other because of reasons of Outposts. I doubt he and Rowan know one another, and Teresa may know of his wife's family but not of him specifically :|a
