Well hello~ My name is Signs and I've been convinced to come here by the lovely Myriad, who should get an award her enabling skills. Met in class, less than two hours later I'm checking out this place's site, next morning I've submitted an application. I'm a currently a fifth-year Asian Studies student ( yes I know my major is worthless ), I love meeting new people, and the best way to contact me is via AIM at TheWaywardI. Please note: I am often invisible, so please feel free to drop a message even if it says I'm offline. If nothing else, I'll probably get it in a couple of hours.

The incredible derp you see in these icons is Jesse Pennington, a six of Hearts, recently returned to the deck after a bit of soul-searching in the "real world" for the last ten years. If your character is around the age of 27, they might have crossed paths in their early teens, but he was probably at least a little more gangly back then. He likes word-games, tongue-twisters, puns and other annoying vocabulary-related hobbies, which gives him a tendency to natter endlessly if given the chance. Don't worry--if you interrupt he'll listen with equal interest.

Jesse's probably been kicking around for a few months lately, but most of his efforts have been going into putting together a coffee shop in town. It'll be open soon, ready to display the artwork of local talent and provide glorious caffeine to all the Deck. Is there anyone who might have run into him, or is interested in having him hang some paintings?

A well-adjusted Deck baby? Sacrilege! XD Actually, they appear to be on one end of the extreme or the other. The Deck is a strange place.

Sophie is a tree climber extraordinaire, though that's a secret most people have forgotten. It took her handlers ages to realize they needed to look up. I can see her dropping leaves and twigs on him from on high.

Loose leaf? Bless you. (Don't ask me why so many of my characters drink tea when I'm a coffee drinker. It just happened.) Monty is always in search of REGULAR. COFFEE. The real stuff. None of that fancy stuff.

Eh, only partial-Deck-baby. He was three when his parents stumbled in a drunken, special-brownie'd stupor found the Deck, and they didn't really have interest in upper levels of the power system. They were kids in the 70s, after all.

askdj omg why is that such adorable image. He'd totes climb up after her if she told him it was fun. He never needed too much coaxing.

HE ASSURES HIM THE COFFEE ALWAYS STARTS OFF BLACK. Therefor, it can be served that way. (I feel the same way when I have characters who like to hit the bottle on a very regular basis.)

Oh, golly gosh!

Alright, among my cards, Jesse'd likely already know Dr. Itzhak Operman, aka Uncle Itchy (cardiosurgery), because he's been around the deck for AGES as the Hearts doctor.

You will must needs to meet Isadore (fallenpips), because she's fairly fond of alliteration and fast on her feet. It's fascinating. It's been a personal game for her and Isaac, but Jesse might be invited in to play once he manages to delight Isadore.

As for hanging paintings, would you take illuminated manuscripts instead? Kir (kear_ptb) is the Clubs' scribe, and something of a starving artist.

And then there's Claudine (claudydiamond) who may-or-may-not be in a serious love-hate with the Outside and wants to grill Jesse about his travels.

As long as he made going to the doctor as fun as it was to visit Aunt Frankie, I'm sure his memories will be fond. ♥

Alliteration games will the best and most fun of games, and Jesse will undoubtedly delight in the dulcet declarations of dictionary dexterity. It's always more fun when people don't look at him strangely, after all. And I'm certain he will be delighted to hang the works of anyone, especially the starving artists. He will also send them home with the day-old muffins.

Itchy's a different sort of fun than Frankie. He's--the Jewish uncle everyone loves, and often would be sharing latkes or apples dipped in honey or other random treats for the holidays. Not trying to convert, or really to educate. Just...holidays and celebrations are fun!

Kir's not really starving--Tegan ensures that no Club's left to starve. But the scribe's definitely one of the hole-away working nerds. Came to the deck in the middle of college--Kir'd been majoring in Art History, minoring in Medieval Literature. Nerdimus.

Now I think I need to go roll a d4 to decide who I throw at you first.

Hi! Ana here. One of your friendly, neighborhood moderators, but I also have a few characters....

Julien (this account) is the Ace of Spades (and don't you forget it!). He's been in the Deck nearly 18 years and is the Spadiest Spade that ever Spaded also nearly 35 years old. Ten years ago, he was just about nearing the rank of Ace but he didn't have many (more than one) and spent most of his time working/training so it's not overly likely Jesse'd really know him. Plus he doesn't really approve of Hearts in general. So yeah.

elani_songbird is Elani and she's an Eight of Clubs and 20. Jesse's more likely to know her brother, Evan, I guess (he's 25ish and Qi plays him over at bluntforces), but it won't take long for Elani to discover Jesse and come introduce herself. She makes friends with everybody. She's also an accomplished singer so maybe he could talk her into singing in his coffee shop. It wouldn't take much talking.

di_a_mond is Diana and she's a Seven of Diamonds and 30. She runs a pub down in Town (business owners of the Deck, unite!) called the Four Suits.

And lastly is fiddlerjohnny. Johnny, 5 of Hearts showed up in the Deck about 10 years ago at the age of 17 so he probably just missed Jesse. Also, he doesn't remember anything before he stumbled (literally) onto the Deck. That's because the Devil is a sore loser. Mostly he wanders around, plays his fiddle, flirts with women, and goes walkabout Outside from time to time.

Yay, hello fellow heart! I'm pretty sure that he would know Beth here. She's an eight of hearts and is extremely friendly and bubbly. She's been on Deck for most of her life (since she was about five years old and her mother took her with her to find the Deck) and owns a hairdressing salon in the town.

Now this lady here notinnocentsio you may want to stay away from. She's the recently demoted Three of Spades. She's Irish, she's firey and she's pretty much rude to just about anyone. She doesn't really get along with anyone on the Deck at all but I hear that makes her fun to interact with so I look forward to it if they do XD

For me it's more like... if there is French Vanilla Cappucino, then it is time for Cappucinos. And if not, then English tea all the way. ^O^ Vanilla in tea OR coffee makes it. 100000000000x better. xD

And haha, it's more like we all donate to a stash we've got hidden in one of our cupboards. I go to a boarding school, see. There is no way to get through a week there without tea. xDDD

XDDDD Vanilla is a food-thing for me when it comes to drinks, since I'm not often for the insanely sweet, but I do agree that it is a most excellent flavoring.

o___o a boarding school...? Duuuuuude may I pester you incessantly for information on boarding schools at some point? My pre-secondary educational stint was at public school.

Jesse likes people who makes friends with everybody, since that's generally what he tries to do all the time. He'll definitely be sure to stop by the pub at some point, though~ Evening nightcap after a long day, y/y?

I apologize if Jesse's hair offends Beth--he cuts it himself. But he'd love to meet other friendly hearts and invite them over for tea/coffee/fancy lemonade/whatever if their preference.

Duly note. 8 | Rudeness doesn't really phase Jesse but he'll do his best to give her a cookie to make her feel better should she ever come blowing through his shop.

Eh, still might denote a free muffin now and again. But Jesse's pretty keen on free muffins. But he's also keen on nerds, since they generally have a lot of interesting things to say. He didn't finish high school and certainly didn't go to college, but he loves listening to what people who DID go learned while they were there.

XDD I have such the sweet tooth. I hated tea and coffee for the longest time and my parents were like. "What do. How to teach my child to love the caffeine." And then one day my dad accidentally put in four teaspoons of sugar (because lol he's a derp) and I tried it. And forever loved it. xD

Not gunne lie, Jesse's pretty easily manipulated since he's way too trusting, so hey, if the king ever needs someone to troll you know where to find the cheeky little coffee monkey. Also shyest of the shy people get cookies, which are kind of like candy? The prof sounds like ever prof I've had ever, but Jesse's has the sinking feeling that no proper butler would be caught drinking coffee. Saddays. :C

His most annoying habit is expecting people to hold up to their own belief system - and being linefacey Disappointed when they do something bad.

Just as well. Jesse tries so hard not really to watch himself, but ultimately he might end up saying something that's best not said to a king. Damn friendly hippie kids. At least what you see is basically what you get with him?

COOKIES! Life would not be the same without them and they are a fantastic way of getting shy people to talk. Or at least not to avoid him or think he's scary because really, derp face. And Jesse's belief system is basically LET'S ALL BE FRIENDS AND CHILL AND POSITIVE and uh, he holds to that pretty well. So there's that.
