Well hello~ My name is Signs and I've been convinced to come here by the lovely Myriad, who should get an award her enabling skills. Met in class, less than two hours later I'm checking out this place's site, next morning I've submitted an application. I'm a currently a fifth-year Asian Studies student ( yes I know my major is worthless ), I love meeting new people, and the best way to contact me is via AIM at TheWaywardI. Please note: I am often invisible, so please feel free to drop a message even if it says I'm offline. If nothing else, I'll probably get it in a couple of hours.

The incredible derp you see in these icons is Jesse Pennington, a six of Hearts, recently returned to the deck after a bit of soul-searching in the "real world" for the last ten years. If your character is around the age of 27, they might have crossed paths in their early teens, but he was probably at least a little more gangly back then. He likes word-games, tongue-twisters, puns and other annoying vocabulary-related hobbies, which gives him a tendency to natter endlessly if given the chance. Don't worry--if you interrupt he'll listen with equal interest.

Jesse's probably been kicking around for a few months lately, but most of his efforts have been going into putting together a coffee shop in town. It'll be open soon, ready to display the artwork of local talent and provide glorious caffeine to all the Deck. Is there anyone who might have run into him, or is interested in having him hang some paintings?

But seriously though. It's possible that after he arrived, Jesse was baby-sat for by Mel back when Mel was a dissatisfied teenage Heart. She'll be delighted to have him back around, because she doesn't really leave the Deck and doesn't get this wanderlust thing that some people catch. She will be by the coffeeshop to say hello and possibly drag her girlfriend over for coffee-dates and lunch.

Otherwise, I play Dafydd (takerofthings), Five of Clubs, only six months in the Deck but a pastry chef and spy for the Clubs; Sieben (sevenbyright), Jack of Spades, here for three and a half years; and Frankie (cardstitcher), Ten of Clubs and the Club doctor, but she might have known him in the pre-world-wandering days when he was younger too.

I'm Muzy and have also been enabled by Myriad and other people so I feel your...pain? I also play four. But the one he probably knew was this one, Avery. She's just become a Ten of Diamonds, but she grew up at Heart Castle and is turning 27 in March. So they were probably hippie children together.

Besides that, I have another ex-Heart (headfollowheart) Zoe, who just challenged into the Spades at the rank of Four. She does not function until caffeine has been applied, so Jesse will be seeing her. She's 20. I also have Elisha (cipherspeak), 10 of Clubs, another devotee of the coffee gods and 30, been in the Deck six years, and Urania (starscrownher) another Four of Spades, who...mostly flits around acting possibly crazy. Except not so much lately. She just turned 33 last week.

I've four characters up in here: Blythe here, the Ten of Hearts; Adrien (black0and0white), the Six of Diamonds; Suzanne (superpsyched), the Two of Spades; and finally Piper (eucre), a Joker.

RIGHT. And. Piper and Adrien are my Deckbabies, so either one of them might have met Jesse ten years ago. Ah... Ten years ago, Adrien was part of a royal Spade family (unfortunate circumstances, really), so if they knew each other at all, Jesse will probably be surprised to see him as a Six of. Well. Diamonds.

And Piper is Piper is Piper, as she puts it herself. She wouldn't have changed; she doesn't approve of it. xD

Hello! I am Marie. I am fairly new too! :D

And this girl here? This is your fellow six of hearts and OMG she is an artist! And OMG she loves coffee and needs a coffee shop. Jesse better expect her to come nearly every day when she's working on serious commissions. She needs caffeine like woah during those times.

More seriously? Lasandra is an artist and has painted for the Hearts Court for the last few years. She's a half outside and half deck baby. Mother was a heart who fell in love with a normal joe and the family moved back to the Deck for a little while when Sandy was 12 (and Jesse 13?) in hopes Sandy's mother would recuperate from an illness. It didn't take and the outsider father moved back when Sandy was 13. They could have talked in that period of the time? She's a little tongue tied with people she's just met, however. Once she gets over her tripping tongue she gets more excited and bubbly.

He will look forward to being ready with her coffee the minute she gets in the door and not giving it to her until she answers a riddle (they are good for your mind). Or you know, she doodles something on a napkin for him so he can tape it to the display case. He is also prepared to negotiate a period of free coffee if she'd care to paint the (gender-neutral) bathrooms to look totally awesome.

I'm Melly and welcome to the game. Get ready for those enabling because it happens a lot and in a good way. :D So far I only have one character and it's this little lady here. Her name is Andrea Cruz-Well, just turned 29 and is an odd Four of Spades. When she was younger she would run away and hide in either the Clubs' or Hearts' castles to avoid her classes. Maybe she could have met him when lurking around. They might have hit it off since the vocabulary hobbies would have be a huge interest to Andrea.

She also recently returned to the Deck herself after leaving for a few years. Maybe they also ran across each other during their little trips? Anyways /♥♥♥ GLOMPS SOME MORE ♥♥♥

I'd totes be for that! He wandered around America and a bit of Europe, and was doing this and that and some of those. It'd be easy to see them running across each other, as kids, later or both.

I'm EJ. :) I was not enabled by Myriad, but you know. :D Such is life? Welcome, Welcome.

I play four people here- Victor (morallydefunct), Nine of Spades. He's that surly guy that is charming from time to time, and mostly just sort of sits quietly or has brief conversations with most people. It is a thing.

Then I have Leona (this journal), Six of Clubs. She's currently dating (are they dating officially? IDK) Mel, the Horse Queen of Awesome. She's pretty down to earth, loves to play pranks of people, loves her coffee. Love her alcohol. You know. Things. She wasn't deck born, originally from England. Um, she's great with numbers and rather friendly. Also has no filter between brain and mouth.

Then I have Ceiro (heartafterheart), King of Hearts. Warm, loving, thoughtful. He'll be ultra supportive of Jesse. His wife, Judith, just gave birth to their first child, however, so he will be very preoccupied for a bit. :)

AND THEN- There is Hadyn (maskofhearts), Seven of Hearts. He was born a Spade, became a Heart at age 8. He's very Spade-ish in some of the things he does. He's also studying medicine at the moment, and will never coffee IVs. He will...probably flirt/hit on Jesse (even if Jesse is an utter ladies man. Hadyn...flirts with everyone. Even Toads.) And will be nice, most of the time. :)

Jesse appreciates a good prank, so long as people don't get hurt because he is a sap, and he can definitely relate to the little to no filter between the thinking-bit and gaping maw. He'll bring the King and Queen a plate of danishes to celebrate, since his skills with knitting are somewhat lacking and booties are just not a possibility. :(

Also, if Hadyn can get Jesse to realize he's being flirted with, since he operates on Ultra Friendly and stores all positive interactions as 'YAY FRIENDS,' he will certainly not mind. It just. Takes time/effort. Possibly violent attempts.

Hi! I'm Song. I play Sophie, here, 5 of Diamonds, Monty threecardmonty 3 of Clubs, Rajat manyfaceted 2 of Diamonds and Katya maidenthespade Queen of Spades.

Sophie is a Deck baby and 26. It's quite likely they knew each other. Her family was a bit...ambitious? Her childhood and teens were spent being molded to become the next Ace of Diamonds. However, she ran off on a regular basis as a kid (and probably as a teen, as well). She has 3 horrific (Mean Girls/Heathers) younger sisters.

Sophie is the Diamond librarian. She adores puns and word games, so I think they might have gotten on. She's terribly shy, and was an awkward, gangly, blushy teenager.

She's more of a tea drinker. Please tell her you'll have tea. She will make wibble face if you don't.

Jesse's folks were less than ambitious... they were both 2s and had ABSOLUTELY NO FURTHER ASPIRATIONS and didn't really rush their son because pressure is baaaaad, but it gave him a lot of free time to run off and play with other kids. And by play I mean read a book until he could be coaxed into joining, BUT STILL. I'm sure he'd love to catch up, though, and exchange riddles.

Alright, among my cards, Jesse'd likely already know Dr. Itzhak Operman, aka Uncle Itchy (cardiosurgery), because he's been around the deck for AGES as the Hearts doctor.

You will must needs to meet Isadore (fallenpips), because she's fairly fond of alliteration and fast on her feet. It's fascinating. It's been a personal game for her and Isaac, but Jesse might be invited in to play once he manages to delight Isadore.

As for hanging paintings, would you take illuminated manuscripts instead? Kir (kear_ptb) is the Clubs' scribe, and something of a starving artist.

And then there's Claudine (claudydiamond) who may-or-may-not be in a serious love-hate with the Outside and wants to grill Jesse about his travels.

Hi! Ana here. One of your friendly, neighborhood moderators, but I also have a few characters....

Julien (this account) is the Ace of Spades (and don't you forget it!). He's been in the Deck nearly 18 years and is the Spadiest Spade that ever Spaded also nearly 35 years old. Ten years ago, he was just about nearing the rank of Ace but he didn't have many (more than one) and spent most of his time working/training so it's not overly likely Jesse'd really know him. Plus he doesn't really approve of Hearts in general. So yeah.

elani_songbird is Elani and she's an Eight of Clubs and 20. Jesse's more likely to know her brother, Evan, I guess (he's 25ish and Qi plays him over at bluntforces), but it won't take long for Elani to discover Jesse and come introduce herself. She makes friends with everybody. She's also an accomplished singer so maybe he could talk her into singing in his coffee shop. It wouldn't take much talking.

di_a_mond is Diana and she's a Seven of Diamonds and 30. She runs a pub down in Town (business owners of the Deck, unite!) called the Four Suits.

And lastly is fiddlerjohnny. Johnny, 5 of Hearts showed up in the Deck about 10 years ago at the age of 17 so he probably just missed Jesse. Also, he doesn't remember anything before he stumbled (literally) onto the Deck. That's because the Devil is a sore loser. Mostly he wanders around, plays his fiddle, flirts with women, and goes walkabout Outside from time to time.

Yay, hello fellow heart! I'm pretty sure that he would know Beth here. She's an eight of hearts and is extremely friendly and bubbly. She's been on Deck for most of her life (since she was about five years old and her mother took her with her to find the Deck) and owns a hairdressing salon in the town.

Now this lady here notinnocentsio you may want to stay away from. She's the recently demoted Three of Spades. She's Irish, she's firey and she's pretty much rude to just about anyone. She doesn't really get along with anyone on the Deck at all but I hear that makes her fun to interact with so I look forward to it if they do XD

I've only got one character in canon so far, and that's this girl here, Rachel. She's the Queen of Diamonds, born a Club-baby, and she kinda really dislikes men. It's getting better, though. Sorta. >.> Still, that probably means they didn't/don't hang out much.

She's going to be making a point of visiting the town more often soonish, though, so she might stop by out of curiosity. And to Secretly Judge his coffee. Yes.

Also, eeee~ Asian Studies. I've always found that major incredibly fascinating, so all the awesome to you. *nod*

Yeeeeah for are they're terrible enablers everyone has been so friendly and lovely. 8'D Amnd yaaaay someone who likes Asian Studies...! I love my major myself, but everyone whoever asks what one DOES with such a major generally doesn't appreciate my answer: Teach English overseas, join the Peace Corps or go to grad school for something employable.

Go away for the weekend and I miss everything. Welcome, welcome! I'm Daisy and I'm another with four.

This here is Isaac; Three of Diamonds, crazy butler, creepy as hell but fairly gentle. Then there's Garrett (harpheart), Two of Hearts, a free-spirited, irresponsible musician-hippie type. Oliver (aceofsorts) is a Seven of Spades. Grumpy, short, an okay guy if you don't mind the complaining. And finally Wren (lj user=falseflourish>), the brand new Ace of Hearts! She's been here since she was sixteen, which was eleven years ago.

So he and Wren would have known each other for one year-ish as teenagers. She was a horrible spoilt brat back then, sent to the Deck by her wealthy daddy to make her buck up and do farmwork, much to her despair. But now she's all nice and responsible and stuff, what. I have a feeling Jesse would get on with Garrett (not that there's anyone in the universe Garrett won't get along with). Isaac likes word games? And Oliver will... be around. He's 25 and a Deck-baby, so they could have known each other as kids, possibly.

Huzzah for the importance of learning kindness and responsibility through hard labor. 8| He might have avoided her and retreated behind a book when they were teenagers, since he wasn't quite as outwardly Y HALLO as he is now.
