Cooper Thane - CR Anyone?
Hello, my lovelies. This is Song with her fifth character, Cooper (Coop) Thane, a returning Deck baby and new 8 of Hearts.
Coop, 33, grew up a Club. His parents are still alive and kicking. His mother, Fiona, is a 3rd Gen Spade who fled that Suit during the old regime. She probably would have returned when David took over, but by then she had met and married Ross Thane (a first generation [Australian] Club). Fiona is a gardener and Ross an accountant. They had three children. Cooper is the middle kid.
Cooper is a guy. He likes to drink, he likes to fight (friendly most times) he likes sports, the outdoors. He's not too interested in fashion. He's happier doing than thinking, though he's actually quite clever. He keeps that close to his chest and is generally friendly, though he's not above slipping in the occasional sarcasm. He's a people watcher, always looking below the surface. He doesn't talk about his emotions or get emotional (or tries not to). He has no patience for whiners or any gender, and he likes people who take care of themselves. No wilting flowers for Coop, thanks. Oh, and don't change his name to Copper. He'd have to deck you.
Growing up, Cooper excelled in sports. The Deck isn't conducive to team sports (though Coop is a huge fan of the Broncos, Lions and Reds). His father started him in boxing. Coop's size and speed (and the fact that he's a southpaw) helped him immensely. He's also a devilishly fast swimmer and an ace tennis player.
Riley, his older sister, left the Deck at 20 after a failed challenge. Jack, the baby, was injured (and later died) in a freak training accident (he landed wrong after a judo throw and broke his neck). He was barely fifteen.
Cooper spiraled into a depression and eventually left the Deck, returning to his grandparents in Brisbane. He and his grandfather, Wil, a retired detective, became quite close (love of sports and cooking). Coop followed his grandfather's footsteps and entered a career in law enforcement. Cooper rose swiftly in the ranks, becoming a detective at 23 and assigned first to Narcotics and later to Homicide. He lost the taste for his job when he took on a case where a father had systematically planned out the murder of his wife and three small children. Thoroughly burned out by death, he returned to the Deck after his mother contacted him and told him his father had had a heart attack. Cooper was 25.
His father lived, but Cooper wanted to be nearer his parents and decided to give the Deck another go. He's still giving it a go after eight years. He didn't want to live in his parents' pockets (plus the Clubs reminded him too much of his dead brother) and joined the Hearts as a Two. He chose the Hearts because he liked their Queen and King. Besides, he has the sneaking suspicion he should probably arrest most of the Spades on general principles and the Diamonds are too caught up in appearances for his liking.
Cooper's an excellent cook, supplementing his early cooking lessons from Ross with classes in his spare time. He works in the kitchens (runs them if there isn't anyone else).
So, CR? Anyone want to volunteer to have accidentally killed poor Jack? Could be from any Suit, but a Club is most likely. Any Club want to have pummelled Riley out of the Deck? Is there someone else in charge of the Heart kitchens?
Hit me!
(In case you're interested, here's a list of challenges: Battleship, Sudoku, Best Souffle, 400M medley (swimming), Boxing, Archery)

And also. Battleship. Trolololol. That would be such an intense challenge. :||

It was intense. There were side bets (which he instigated).

I'm sure he must know Jordan somehow since he's an Eight and Jordan's a Nine.
I had Zoë working in the Heart kitchens in between tutoring until she was a Five and entered the world of accounting. If he's been in the kitchens the whole time, he may have helped her not scorch the mirepoix and garlic while she was on Soup Duty. She was only there for a year, but. Could work? Oh, Zoë also plays tennis, so they could have that in common.
He might know Avery, since she's in and out of Heart Castle a lot and did his job for the Diamonds up until when she rose to Ten. Baking friends?

I'd think Jordan and Cooper would know each other. Depending on when Jordan made his rise, they might have been advancing at similar times. It's also possible their mothers are acquainted, too, since Fiona was originally a Spade.
If Zoe was working kitchen duty 8 years ago, they probably did meet. And if they didn't get to know each other int he kitchens, they could very well have bonded over tennis. He'd love to have a tennis partner. Cooper's a southpaw, so that's good practice for her, too.
I imagine all the head cooks know each other a bit. He'd cook up something with Avery anytime. Can they be barbie buddies, too?

And he and Isaac have probably worked together with whole-Deck events. If he's good at cooking, Isaac will leave off the being annoying. Mostly. But probably acted creepy as all get-out to avoid socialising.

Coop thinks Isaac should get dirty. Guys shouldn't be afraid of a little grime. It washes off!

I mean, oh hey Coop. Want to make friends with the head of the Club bakers? And soon to be the head of the Club Kitchens? He and Dafydd might get along like whoa.
Midterms eated me and then I have travel and spring break woooo, but CR. Coop probably doesn't really know Sieben, but he might know Frankie in passing. He could be someone she adopted. She has a lot of them. She would have

I'm sure Beth knows him due to her over-friendliness with absolutely everyone and anyone. I'm not sure about Noah since he's new but I'm sure they'll come across each other at some stage. And Siobhan? When has she ever had CR with anyone? XD
no subject
He feeds waifs if he heads over Heart way. He may be acquainted with Siobhan from pubs. And she does so have CR, it's just not necessarily friendly CR. :D

Lasandra stalks the kitchens, you know. Making her sandwiches and being a sweet heart and calling him Copper. In a corny James Cagney voice. Obviously he won't punch the cute little Six, would he?
Chris, as you know, will call someone by the proper name or whatever name they want to be called. And oh, hi fellow boxer. Do you mind sparing with a Club every once and a while?
I don't think Cooper would know Meghana personally because Meghana's nature (and the fact he'd probably want to arrest her for manslaughter), but his mother could have possibly known both Meghana's mother Elise (a six of Spades before her death and died about 15 years ago) and her Muni (an eight of spades who died 13 years ago). Elise and Muni were very decent Spades despite their rank, if only ambitious.

Not at all. He enjoys it.
Their parents probably knew each other. LOL He doesn't actively think of reasons. Just a general feeling and knowledge of the Deck.

He'd be a Club probably except he doesn't want to live with mommy and daddy. He's 33 for christ's sake.

Jake...........will avoid. Forever.

Why avoiding, Jake? Don't like food?

And team sports = Cadogan will soon find him and there will be a goddamn scrum. And that's all I can think of.

Okay, okay, but let him introduce you to a little Australian game called footy.
