Not a cuddly panda. She's concise, straightforward and doesn't bother hiding her lack of empathy while she's in Deck. For her backstory, I'll have had her working with both the Spade Suit doctor before she left for college as well as the mortician - in an assistant position to help her transition better into the off-Deck life.

Born in the Deck, she'd know all of the other Spade Deck-babies, as well as anyone else who would have taken the time to poke around in the Spade castle. She's not the most social of sorts unless she's on one of her binges - which would likely have her winding up in the Four Suits.

Questions/Suggestions: I'm all ears.

SO- I actually have four people now. She's already talked to one of them. :)

Victor- Ten of Spades, Head of Security. Pretty much one of the most stable, mentally, in the Spades (idek how that came to be true, but I was discussing it with Ana. It is true.) He's pretty straight forward, get things done about most anything. From their one thread, I got the feeling that he likes Maeve, though, which is rare. XD He doesn't usually take to other Spades very well, but it is nice to see he can have people in the Suit he gets along with.

Ceiro- King of Hearts, Deck Baby. Ceiro gets along with everyone, and will be quite warm and welcoming to her if she ever stops by to talk to him. He's like that. He didn't really wander into the Spades area, much, as a kid though. So I don't know if they'd know much about each other than who the other is.

Hadyn- Seven of Hearts, Deck Baby. Hadyn was born to the Spades, as part of the Novak-Bernard family, (a set of two old Spade family lines). He was there until he was 8, when Dwayne, his 'father', was murdered about 12 years ago. This goes hand in hand with when Athena challenge Madea for the Queenship and killed the older Spade. The reality is that Dwayne isn't really Hadyn's father, and that Laureline Novak killed her husband herself. The rumor that has lived for more than 12 years is that David was behind Dwayne's death and the Novaks fled to the Hearts for asylum.

New Kid, Lucas Addison- Eight of Clubs, Deck Baby. Addy is from the Deck, but for the better part of the last ten years he spent most of his time off Deck. He joined the Royal Marines and went to war and all that fun stuff. Before that- they might have known each other. Addy was pretty friendly and carefree and open. Now a days though, he sees everyone as a potently threat and is a bit off his rocker. Especially when he doesn't stay on the medication.

Meghana: Another damn Spade who knew her back when she was 7 and wore tropical print jumpers and wore her hair in pigtails. Damnit. :| And yet another sociopath.

Of course, that was Meghana from 7 to 14. She knows how to deal with darker Spades. Avoid them or give them no emotion to read off of. Well, other than anger. But geez, everyone knows Meghana is an angry young lady.

However, Meghana does have a habit in dragging back people from the Four Pubs when they get wasted. Megs doesn't drink often herself. If you'd like, Maeve can have been dragged back to Spades Castle once.

She might know Sandy as 'that Adare Girl' that's been bounding along the hallways to see Zoe?

If she knows the Spade Deck Babies, she knows Urania, and probably Jordan. And likely Zoe, probably in a what-the-hell-is-this-Heart-doing-here sense. She's dating/virtually living with Victor. Probably knows Avery in passing, given the number of Spades she's currently sleeping with. XD Likely has seen Elisha over and over and over, given how much time he spends at Spade Castle (he's a misplaced Spade, he really is)

Fellow Deck baby~!

Might have run across Andrea before and after she flounced off Deck. When she was still around, Andrea was very sharp and quick. Bit of an arrogant Libby to anyone that wasn't her friend and wasn't afraid to play in politics in her family if given the chance. Not the person you want to spar with since she usually didn't hold back.

Maeve must be staring, not giving a damn but wondering why Andrea now, soft and polite and the 'Disney Princess of Spades' as she's been called , is still around. Especially given the James problem.

Olly is a Spadebaby, so they would have known each other. He's twenty-five and a Seven. He acts pretty sour towards most Sixes because they've been the bane of his life for the past two years. However, he's a high-functioning alcoholic so they've probably drank together, or used to drink together. Maybe.

If you have any ideas about Isaac, Wren, Olly or Jim, do shoot. :)

Well, she'd certainly know Annie. Given her age, she would also have known Annie's brother Jimmy who was the same age as her and left the Deck with his father and sister at 13. Jimmy died out there, so she's coming back to find only one Teague Riordan who's returned from outside (Annie came back while Maeve was off-Deck, I think). All told, she won't have seen Annie for 12 years.

Hi, I'm Song, and I play five characters.

First, there is Cooper Thane, 8 of Hearts (heartstrine and head of the Heart kitchens. Cooper's mother is a 3rd Generation Spade (Fiona Reid) who married his father (a Club) soon after he arrived on Deck. Cooper spent about ten years off Deck (part of that time as a homicide detective in Brisbane, Australia) before returning and taking up residence with the Hearts. Coop is 33, likes sports, personable and hides his nose for deception from most people.

Katya (maidenthespade) has been Queen of Spades for a few months now, having been appointed after Athena abdicated. Before that she was a Ten and headed up Human Resources for the Spades. She's half Ukrainian and half Russian with a definite accent. She's gregarious (often offering a drink of horilka (think of it as Ukrainian vodka) to people she's talking to). She's nearly always charming and smiling, which hides an inner core of ice. Katya turned 30 in November, laments the loss of her first name, and is probably the least formal of the Spade royals.

Monty (Drew Montgomery) 3 of Clubs (threecardmonty). Monty grew up in Big Sky Country, left home when he was sixteen, became acquainted with another grifter and set about learning the Life. Over the years, he developed a reputation as one of the few grifters still running long cons. When one of his cons got his team killed and put him on the run, Monty found his way to the Deck. He spends a lot of his time avoiding Elisha, who puts him to work. He's self-appointed gardener, handyman, and spy layabout. Monty is 34, talks with a western drawl, flirts with the ladies and has a way of getting information out of people without them realizing it.

Dr. Rajat Kumar (manyfaceted) is 2 of Diamonds and another returned Deck baby. Raj was born to the Clubs. His mother and father still work there (his father is a horse master/trainer/instructor of some renown and his mother a Diamond). Raj's family sent him outside for his education (first to Westminster School and later Oxford) though he returned for Holidays. His doesn't talk about his reasons for his return to the Deck. Raj is 32, seemingly falls into the best-dressed attitude of some Diamonds, friendly enough but let's few people past a certain poing.

Lastly, there's Sophie Berthier onlytolerable. Sophie is a new Six of Diamonds and the Diamond Librarian/Archivist/Head Blusher. Sophie is essentially a Deck princess and has histories of her family dating back to 1452. The Berthier has always been a Diamond. Sophie, as "The" Berthier, is a Diamond, but not a very good one. She dresses, well, frumpily, but even those clothes can't hide her waves of dark red hair or the waves of her quite frequent blushes. Sophie is shy and prefers to stay out of the limelight, but she is also sharp as a tack, has a surprising temper once roused, and a quiet sense of humor. Sophie was raised to be the Ace, with all that entails, and has a surprising array of combat and other challenge skills along with a classical education. She's 26, quiet, tends to avoid strangers if possible, but generally likes people. She also has three sisters who turned on Sophie and in three closely timed challenges dropped her from Eight to Five four years ago. Think of the sisters as a cross between Heathers and Mean Girls and you won't be far off.

So, it's possible for anyone Deck raised to have known Sophie, Cooper or Raj or even possibly be related. Katya is the one most likely to know Maeve, particularly since she has mortician skills. Katya took out a lot of "trash" when she was in charge of HR.

If she's a Spadebaby, then she'll likely know of if not properly know Calypso here. Possibly Callie babysat her? About how old was Maeve when she left/when she came back? Their vanishing-from-Deck timez may have overlapped. ;P

ETA: Rachel will probably be known of and will probably have kept an eye on Maeve because she likes to do that for at least the mid/upper-Ranked Cards of other Suits. ;P

Deck Baby. Addy was born to a newly joined family, however.

Suffers PTSD, served in the Royal Marines and the Special Boats Service, which is the Special Forces for the UK Marines.

He is a spy.

He works for Elisha, doing all the dirty work when needed.

Used to have a thing with Avery, and now they only fight when they talk.


He is in need of Past and Present CR. XD Don't worry, he only stares blankly at people half the time.

Rylan is an affable puppy sort. Until he's not. He's mostly easy going, and considering that he's besties with Ethan (w/approval from Em), he learned quite a long time ago to take most, if not all insults, with a grain of salt. Because how do guys say I love you? They beat the shit out of each other.

A Deck-baby and a Club, he's familiar with all the Club faces, and with the boys of each suit that prefer to get into things they likely shouldn't.

He's likely well-known for his penchant to sleep-walk; which, when it started, prompted a flurry of well-meaning gifts of pajamas. So, he's got quite the selection. (which he rarely uses) A smile comes easy to him, and he prefers to see them on the faces of those around him.

Deck-born with a Deck heritage on her Korean mother's side, her French father lives in Paris and knows nothing about the Deck. Generally amiable and a bit of an introvert, but not a pushover. He's not necessarily looking to make waves, but he won't be content to remain at the bottom forever and will look for a way to make his new life work for him once he's comfortable enough with the new rules.. Having experience in his off-Deck life at this kind of thing, he'll have adapted to many of the customs rather quickly knowing it vital to his eventual success here.

He knows there's still a lot that he's missing and that's his primary goal of the moment - to learn the more subtle aspects of the court and maybe make some friends that can help with the transition.

I'm Emma and Lelial here is a Three of Diamonds, a blind writer who came to the Deck to get away from her success. Irony, wat? Anyway, she still writes, mothers those in her Suit who need to be comforted with no-nonsense witticisms and is a lover of tea, good books, intelligent conversation and has no real interest in the Deck overall, but rather the individuals who make it up. CR IS WELCOME.

Not a Deck native; he's been around for six years, so enough to know how everything works, but still a short enough time that he probably still makes a lot of faux pas and has a bit of an outsider vibe.

He's pretty friendly and really tries to be a good guy, but he can be prone to prejudice and he's fairly quick to lose his temper. He was a cop before he came to the Deck, and he's quick to develop a staunch "us versus them" mentality whenever there's conflict. He's fanatically devoted to the Clubs, and he's pretty content with his current position as a Six, so he may not try to challenge anyone for a while. Ideally, he'd like to be a Seven or Eight someday, but he's in no hurry.

He really loves learning about new places and cultures, and I think the Deck is still new enough to him that he's still eager to learn more about its history and unique customs and every little thing that makes it different from the world he grew up in.

I'm still trying to figure out what he does for a living--I'm thinking his pre-Deck career would make him suited to any kind of guard or law enforcement position, but I know that the Clubs' history gives that kind of an added set of issues, with the assassination and everything, and I'm a new player, so I'm not sure exactly how to handle that. So any ideas on that front would be fantastic!

Morgan's more of the silent type. So needless to say one never knows if she's dangerous or not and never really knows what she's thinking. She's been known to experiment with poisons, sometimes even on herself just to see how effective they are. Outside of the Deck she was a Mortician (went to University of Bath to major in funeral services and minored in chemistry) and known to talk to the dead thanks to the death of her family not that she sees it as a problem.

She's also Dr. Eli Johnson's baby sister and doesn't know big brother is alive. She's also loyal to a fault and stubborn as hell. Even if she is the silent type one would note that one of her favorite things (other than messing with poisons) is ballroom dancing. It's a past time of hers that she'll never give up.

The poor girl also knows nothing of the Deck.

So I don't know who she'd have CR with but I'd be up for anything.

heart_the_art Lasandra Adare, better known as 'Sandy' or 'That Adare Girl'. She's bright, cheerful, and dealing with a mood disorder than she's fairly sure no one knows about. She's the Court Artist of the Hearts and a Six of Hearts but since all the royals she needs to paint won't sit down longer than five minutes, she has a lot of time on her hands. She's been managing all right lately. (If you don't count that River and Aruba thing.) She's also an Outsider and ... it sometimes shows. She also seems forgetful and completely... like a ditz. It's mostly an act but sometimes...

schoollikenew is Christopher Kahl (five of Clubs) and he is the tutor for the Ace of Clubs and has been teaching on Deck for about ten years. He originally came with his wife to the Deck about 11 years prior and was divorced about three years prior. He's suffering from depression. He's kind, mature, utterly stoic, and fiercely protective of kids. He's also something of an English nerd and likes to box. He's a good guy.

wiredspade is Meghana Sankaran, an Indian Deckbaby and elite hacker and cyber security specialist. She is a tiger with a peacock's disguise with anger issues due to a very rough childhood. However she's probably among the less lethal among the Spades elite. She'll just ruin your life by other means.


Okay, so. Ballroom dancing? Meghana loves Ballroom dancing. Also? Meghana is a touch over protective of female Twos for a little while until she judges if they'll be eaten alive or not. If not, she drops them like a bad habit. If she thinks they'll be eaten alive? You're placed under her wing. If you'd like.

So, anyway, this is Nico:

He's a Spade Deck-baby, from one of those families that isn't exactly ancient isn't exactly new. He was educated off-Deck, where he flourished, and still spends a fair bit of time going back and forth for work. He's a forensic psychologist - a damned good one - and has a talent for reading people while being very difficult to read himself.

Genial and courteous, he's very good at giving the impression of being harmless while being anything but. He's a problem-solver (a fixer, of sorts) and so violence is often only used as a last resort -- though to surprising effect. He's quick, clean and ever so efficient and despite appearances is one of the last people one would ever want to cross.

Cayden

She's fun loving, easy going, and pretty much an all around nice person. She loves and rarely hates, but she's able to show it in the third degree. However, Cayden is quicker to smile and laugh than she is to frown. She loves to dance, but people rarely ever see her dance because of experiences growing up. She is, despite all things, carefree and though she appears to not care about the Arcana, they're quietly making her panic in her own way. She is scared, but she refuses to show that fear. After all, she is positive that both her King and her Queen will do whatever it takes to protect the Suit.

If people were to catch her dancing, that'd be the best time. She is completely free and she shows absolute joy in that moment of her dancing.

I don't know how long she's been in the Deck, but regardless, she's likely met Jordan, Nine of Hearts, Suit Archivist and Librarian, Dangerous Charmer. He will flirt. It's what he does though he's sliding into an actual relationship with Meghana at the moment.

She probably met Zoe too. She was a Seven of Hearts before she joined the Spades as a Four. Zoe's from a performing family (singing, though) and some of her most awkward moments have occurred on stage/performing, so she'll likely wonder how Cayden dances in front of people without being utterly embarrassed.

Avery is bffs with Wren, the Heart Ace, so Cayden has likely at least seen her around. Elisha is sort of dating Hadyn, one of the Heart Sevens, so he's probably also been on the periphery. I don't know if she's ever met Urania.
