Hey and welcome! I'm Yin, playing Säde here, Ace of Diamonds; Leigh allthesamemask, her ward and a Two of Diamonds; and Annie oneirophiliac, a Five of Spades and their exterminator (and snake-keeper).

Annie's the one who'd probably know him since they're closest in age (she's two years younger), and it's possible they grew up together in the Spades? Charlie might also have known Annie's deceased older brother Jimmy, who'd have been a year older than him.

Annie and Jimmy left the Spades when Charlie was 12. Your profile doesn't state when he left, but Annie would have returned when Charlie was 19, so depending on your timeline, he'd have seen her briefly or now would be his first time seeing her in many years.

He left at 18 so it would have been a year before her return. He will be surprised to see her back. It would be awesome to have had them grow up together. He needs more people who will recognise him and he can maybe be friends with.
