AHHH IT'S A RETURNING CHAAAARACTEEEEER~!

Ahem.

So, this is Muzy with Ben Mackinnon, who I first brought to the game last fall and dropped in January of this year. But I've brought him back now with a few tweaks and retcons. So.

Ben is a Scottish ex-cop and ex-smuggler who came to the Deck too years ago when things got a tad bit too warm when it came to ferrying slightly illegal goods across the North Sea. Very few people in the Deck know that, however, and should be limited to Victor Fox (his best friend who he met when he was a cop), Cadogan (who he does weapons requisitions for), and David and Elisha (who know a lot of things/everything). He dated Sophie for several months last year, and it ended...mostly amicably.

So, hit me? :D?

I'm not sure if any of my Cards know him. ;D I remember asking but not what you decided about how much Sophie knew of his past.

I do think he and Cooper probably know each other: both former cops, 36 and 37, both box and run. Up to you.

They couldn't possibly know him. ~~Certainly not his ex-girlfriend~~. I think I decided that he probably vaguely told her what he did, but didn't go into detail.

But he and Cooper should definitely know each other. They're about the same age and have hobbies in common, so they can run together.

I don't think he would have. Even with the other he was really vague. I remember her thinking that, asked him if he'd do it again and left it at that for then.

Cooper's been back for most of his smuggling career and had moved into homicide from narcotics, which was the one place he might have had interpol contacts, so no worries about him hearing things. Then again, he's one for going his own way himself.

Yeah, so I think it's safe to say that she doesn't know much about what he did - just vague impressions?

And yes. Besides that, Cooper's wise to the fact that the Deck's full of questionable people.

Yep. And then things went topsy turvy, so never brought up again. It's not like his story is so unusual with Outsiders. That's why I always imagine it sort of like the Foreign Legion: you don't ask.

Too right, mate. He has the vague suspicion he should arrest half the Spades on general principle, but this is the Deck and not Outside.

Aye, and Ben knows that one better than most, as he once had the dubious pleasure of arresting one of their Tens. But then, that'd be a bit hypocritical on his part, really. XD

Iiiiii don't think any of mine had any particular CR with Ben back in the day.

I imagine Elani knows him, if nothing else, through Sophie and Victor.

Julien at least knows of him but I suspect they don't have drinks together or anything.

He and Davin might be colleagues?

Probably hasn't really talked to Johnny. And seems to be acquaintanced with Pete.

I think he and Elani threaded once, a little before I dropped him, but other than that, no. XD

I imagine he's acquainted with Davin, though he pretty much only gets weapons for the Diamonds. And I think he probably knows a lot of low to middle Cards. He gets into things.

Alright, so what's Ben's opinion on his Jack? She's the only one I think he'd be close to, possibly.

I think he likely likes her well enough. She was likely never one of the Nines calling him to fix mysteriously broken doors, and he's a bit of a fighter on top of being responsible for buying the babies, so I imagine they might have seen each other around in that sense?

Probably. She's likely trained with him before, and is still quite willing to. Get her out of the office?

Don't mind me just disappearing off the face of the earth for a few days (as I always do).

Ahem, well Ben has Aoife one rank below him. She doesn't necessarily know fellow Diamonds better than anyone else as she lives in Town. She may just find it amusing when people confuse their accents.

My Joker may visit anyone from any Suit.

Ben gets around a good bit, and being in charge of orienting New Diamonds, I suspect he talks to the Town Cards as much as the Castle ones. He would, however, be amused by mixed up accents, and would likely confuse them more by describing exactly how they're different. XD

Aoife was taught French rather than Irish Gaelic for most of her school career but she knows words and phrases used by her relatives. If Ben has the time, he can teach her a bit of Scottish Gaelic.

I will start tagging again as soon as I have finished writing an app for a Face. Yes Elisha you are getting some help.

He'd likely like that. He's fluent in both Scottish Gaelic and Lowland Scots, and knows a bit of Irish - enough to sing some songs, basically.

I can't think of any two Cards I have who might know him.

Particularly not the one you already mentioned up there.

So we said he and Cadogan are still working together, but less so now that he has Real Responsibility ~~but still rugby all the time, of course~~. And Eileen... is just poker nights, I think, plus the one time they talked about what her name meant? Am I crazy?

Absolutely not. Wales and Scotland never associate. It's the principal of the thing, you know.

And if they ever did, there would never be chess.

I tried to type 'rugby' there, but Cadogan had a mild panic attack that it would accidentally come true.

There will always be rugby, Cadogan. Worry not. Though Ben would like to point out that he's heading towards forty these days, so be nice to him.

Well, lad, the manufacturer in Bulgaria went belly-up, but I've found us a nice gentleman in Kyoto.

I think over time Leigh would have relaxed around him. By now they should be semi-friendly? Ish?

Säde is aware of him, of course, but doesn't work closely with him.

I think they ought to be. Ben is sorry he's so horribly tall, Leigh.

I suspect that Ben doesn't explicitly avoid his Faces, but proooobably doesn't try to cultivate close relationships.

No ideas. Really. :|
