Hola, fellow HoC addicts!

You are all pretty aware of JP and M&M, because I've been playing them (in SWS) along side Yeo In Su for the better past of a month before I was able to app them.

While they're only technically in the game as of today, you've made them feel like a part of the community since I first apped, voice tested and plagued you with them in the last several weeks.

And due to your kindness and addiction-enabling, they've developed CR as well as back stories that intertwine them with all of you. So, thanks so much for that.

I think he might know Sandy, Vasiliy, and Meghana on some level. Sandy used to live in town and is quite friendly though work has swallowed her alive. She was known as being pretty risky and doing silly things. She sometimes still does silly things. Vasiliy makes a point to know small bussiness owners and encourages people to drop by if he knows they have more talent past being a Four. Meghana is a very good dancer but rarely shows it off but may have been seen on dance floors or perhaps on occasion she had JP danced in the past? Meghana used to get around a little bit, too.

He should know Sandy! Town living for a little while and they were the same rank until last July. I.... want to say Mitch might be one of the few people who have seen Vasiliy sneak into hobby shops and make secretive purchases of comic books. :|

Nico is... well. You've met him somewhat already. He is kind of prickly, particularly with people he doesn't really know. However, you have a Spade I believe that's an artist? So possibly they can talk. He is not nearly as overtly terrifying as Victor.

I don't think I've yet said hi to you; I was pretty quiet last month.

So... introductions:

Juan Pedro may know Margo Sands-Alder in Clubs. She is a 29 year old photojournalist, working for the Daily Trump. She's deaf in one ear but it is not a major handicap. It affects her balance more than her ability to understand you (she supplements her hearing with lip reading).

I have no Spades or Hearts but that shouldn't be a problem. Aoife is an introverted Diamond girl who lives with her florist aunt. She is the only one of my cards who is not Deck-born. She's Irish and arrived on-Deck a couple of years ago. She studies gemology via correspondence. Being around Mitchell's age, she might befriend him. She is something of a wallflower.

Then, Dybbuk my very distinctive Joker, is liable to spontaneously approach any of your cards and talk nonsense or cleverly disguised sense. Don't ask about new circus events though.

Mitchell is a nerdy klutz who is part of a gaming group called "The Straight to Hells" that does table top RP once or twice a week. It's mostly shy nerdy types, and he's all up for having quiet friends.

Hey folks! Ty here, and Caleb is my first Card--be gentle~~

I've threaded with a few of you on SWS, and really appreciate how awesome those I've spoken to have been--I was so very nervous about apping to a game with such a daunting amount of detailed character history! Glad I did, though, it looks like it's gonna be a ton of fun.

Anyway, Caleb grew up on-Deck til he was 15 (1976-1992), then lived in NYC from 15-27 (1992-2003). After that, he did a lot of traveling to third-world countries and warzones, occasionally popping back to the Deck. I'd love to develop some sort of CR--maybe childhood friendships, or even someone he met Outside while going to school? I'm really up for anything!

Definitely looking forward to being a part of the craziness! <3

I'm still sometimes overwhelmed by all the CR and history and so on, but don't worry, just join the blast, and listen in and you'll start picking it up a little at a time.

Juan Pedro is a club, also spent time on and off the deck, and did some world traveling, so if you want to say they're friends we can totally work something out.

In Su is new to the deck, as in... a month around so that won't be likely. And Mitch is a heart and very young and probably only knows Caleb as a patient.

I'm glad you apped too! So welcome! Ana here and I play Julien and Johnny and Elani and Pete and Davin and you sort of already know this since I introduced myself over on MMW. :)

Annnyway, as far as which of mine might have CR with your dude.

Well, he and Pete talked over on SWS but it was sort of meta-talk and they spoke as if they hadn't already met though I think it's more likely they have, to some extent, since he's also a Club and the personal assistant (as of the past couple-few months) to the King of Clubs. Maybe just acquaintances?

Elani has grown up in the Deck and is also a Club too but she's significantly younger (just turned 21) than Caleb so that's another where they could know of each other (she kind of seems to end up knowing almost everybody at least a little) but maybe not be particularly close (yet?).

Caleb probably doesn't want to know Julien, hah. But he is the Ace of Spades so he kind of gets around, and stuff. Also, he probably gives off that 'this guy would be going around killing people in a warzone if he hadn't come to the Deck' vibe.

Johnny's a Heart but he's done a lot of traveling too so it's possible they've crossed paths both on and off the Deck.

I don't know that/if he'd have much reason to know Davin. Hrm.

Cooper was born a club, is also 36. He left the Deck when he was 17 after his younger brother was killed in a training accident. He returned to his grandparents in Brisbane and served on the police force there as first a narcotics, then a homicide detective, for ten years before coming home when his father became ill. He's the executive chef and head caterer for the Hearts, is generally friendly, given to occasional snark, and one of the most likely to have known Caleb.

Jubilee only showed up on the Deck 2 years ago. If she thinks interesting things happen around your guy, she'll probably pester him.

Katya, you met a bit in your voice testing (despite my slow tagging). Katya came from off Deck, is Ukrainian by birth. She took up the reins of Queen when the former Queen decamped and ran away off Deck. She generally finds humor in most situations, but don't let the smile fool you. She's definitely a Spade where it counts.

Monty is another Outsider. He was a grifter by trade, practicing the long con until he fell afoul of the mob when his last scheme went awry. He escaped with his life and wound up at the Clubs. Currently he works as their Stablemaster, though he's known more for liking the sound of his own voice and trying to find ways to avoid the Club King (and work).

Sophie is a Deck Princess. Not really, but she does come from one of the Deck's oldest families. Currently, she's the Diamond's head librarian, archivist and preservationist, but she was groomed almost since the time she could talk to be the Diamond Ace. She doesn't want that job, thanks, but it took her a long while to realize that. She's prone to blushing and babbling with the occasional dither thrown in and is crippled by shyness around people she doesn't know (a fault she's diligently been trying to overcome).

Hello! I'm Muzy, and I play a whopping eight characters. Some Caleb will probably know, some he will just have to get to know later. :)

Elisha [cipherspeak] is Caleb's King. He's been in the Deck seven years now, was the court artist during most of the popping in and out. However, he grew up in Israel and was in the military intelligence division of the IDF...so there's a bit more to him than meets the eye.

Briony [civilizedpoison] is an ex-Spade Nine of Clubs. Pharmacist, studied off-Deck from age 18 to age 24 or 25 in Bryn Mawr and Minneapolis. As such, they probably didn't run into each other, but they have the whole medical thing in common.

Avery [uncutclarity] is the new Ace of Diamonds. She was born in Australia, raised in Hearts and became a Diamond at age 15. They may not know each other yet, but she's gregarious and talks to everyone, so. They will.

Katriane [pureaudacity] is a Six of Diamonds, only 23. They probably don't know each other. Yet.

Jordan [heartsthespades] is a Ten of Hearts, Head of Security. Might know of Caleb but may not be personally acquainted yet?

Alasdair [dreamsofwords] is a Six of Hearts, is about five years younger than Caleb, but he's also from a Deck family, so they might be the most likely ones to know each other.

Abby [heartpursuit] has been in the Deck two months, is a Three of Hearts, and a Nurse Practioner. And desperate to talk medical with SOMEONE.

And finally, this one, Zoe Kattalakis. She's a Five of Spades who was a Heart until January of this year. She was born one year before Caleb left the Deck, so they probably don't know each other, but I'm open to all the CR with all of mine. :)

My Cards are Eileen here, the youngest Ace by just about a decade and the one who's been Caleb's for the last six/seven years. She wasn't born until after he was living in NYC, but she's been Ace of Clubs since she was six and is the daughter of the current Queen (as well as the biological and then adopted daughter of the last two Kings), so even if they don't know each other, he's certain to know who she is.

My other Club is bluntforces, a Four and a general bouncy excited human being. He's ten years yonger than Caleb, and has spent a lot of time traveling around off-Deck. He would have been six when Caleb first moved to NYC, but also likely been all about making friends when Caleb was around.

I also have diemwnt, Ten of Diamonds. He's not Deck-born and only came in 2007, just making Ten in 2011. I don't know that they'd have particular reason to know each other, unless Caleb was involved in Afghanistan anytime beween 2002-2004 with the British Reserve? Or if Caleb, inexplicably, spends a lot of time in the Diamond armory?

My other Diamond is sineoccasu, who was born into Spades but switched in childhood over to Diamonds. He's only four years younger than Caleb, and tended to be a very outgoing, not-Suit-oriented child, so it's entirely possible they were buddies back in the day.

And last but not least is my most unfriendly Card, piquedbutler, Five of Spades and head butler of the Spade Castle. He's a good 12 years younger than Caleb and doesn't like people who aren't Spades particularly much, so I doubt they know each other at all, but. He's there. Every time anyone wants tea remotely near the Spade Castle. You've been warned.

My muses are as follows:

Margo castsalight 3 of Clubs: A photojournalist and humanitarian who lived off-Deck for some years but returned in July. Energetic, friendly and somewhat motherly.

Dybbuk suitedtofolly Joker: Used to be a Heart before he became a Joker (he prefers 'Jester'). He runs a circus. Dybbuk is eccentric but no more so than the other Jokers.

Aoife chippedcitrine 4 of Diamonds: An Irish gemology student and assistant to her florist aunt. Quiet with a wry sense of humour.

Hello! I'm Marie and I only play three kids at current with a 4th one being developed. I think I might toss her in too.

- heart_the_art is Lasandra Adare (7 of heart), a former Court Artist of the Hearts turned Head of Domestics. She's been spotted at Clubs Castle seeing that her best friend is Jack of Clubs. She's pretty warm and friendly in most occasions but rather insecure when it comes to formal situations. Though her mother was from a relatively well Established family called the Molyneux, Sandy's father is a New Yorker and she was raised as such from her birth until moving to the Deck in 2006. You know what could be interest? He knows/friends with one of Sandy's cousins on the NYC side? If not, knowing her from passing is just fine.

- rough_karat is Vasiliy Zaslavsky (7 of Diamonds) from a White Russian family who still has this silly notion they're still aristocrats despite the October Revolution happened last century and all their Russian accents make real Russians laugh. Vasiliy is a little different from his family knowing he Russian-Deck and has Classical Liberal/Anarchist leanings that got him demoted by the former Queen of Diamonds when he was a rank of 9. Vasiliy is is 33 and around the same age as Caleb. Vasiliy has always been friendly but frankly blunt with others and has selected victims. I very much doubt Caleb ever was. Third World Doctor. There's is NOTHING to complain about there. He's also the resident forger on the Deck, making IDs and documents to make sure Deckborn pass via documents. However, forcing to people to act like Outsiders is a bit beyond his reach.

- wired_spade, Meghana Sankaran (10 of Spades) is resident IT Head for the Spades. She's not as friendly due to her childhood and the traumatic events that happened in it. Her family is Deck-Indian/Finnish though the two sides don't get along since her parents death. She's usually level headed until someone takes the power away. Then she might crawl on walls. Despite the Tech edge she gives, Meghana is an excellent fighter and that's how she won most of her challenges. She's 27 so slightly too young to be childhood friends but she has two elder brothers. Jagan is closer to Caleb's age and was rather friendly before he exiled from the Deck and Kanja is only a year older than Meghana but a Club. So Caleb could know of Meghana but not know her personally?

Tegan (graceandwit), the girl right here. She was a Seven at the start of the year, challenged for the Rank of Nine in March/April and won and then was promoted to Jack when the previous one fell at the Outposts. She runs Castle HR.

Nico (is_to_art), is a Nine of Spades. A Deck-baby, though he was educated off-Deck. He's the Spades' psychologist cum mad artist, though these days he seems to be more the former than the latter.

Hey! I'm Angela, and I have two clubs and the broody heart I sicced on your SWS post. I think the big, relevant thing might be Karin here and Caleb--they were kids in the Clubs around the same time, and it's possible there was a childhood crush somewhere in there. Her older brother might have been a friend of Caleb's as well, but he died defending the borders. Karin herself became the Suit's butler, and her younger sister Margo (introduced above me) is a photographer.

I also have a 2 of Clubs, Isadore (fallenpips) who works in the armory and is new to the Deck and Suit since Caleb's original departure. And finally, the Jack of Diamonds, who Caleb might have known in school as a complete and total birdbrain. No, seriously--dyslexic and suffering from undiagnosed ADHD, Tally was a disaster back in those days. But anyone making fun of her generally got beat up for it.

Like I said on chat, Yin playing Säde here, newly crowned Queen and former Ace of Diamonds; [Bad username or site: allthesamemask title=Leigh @ livejournal.com], her ward and a Two; [Bad username or site: oneirophiliac title=Annie @ livejournal.com], a Five of Spades and the Suit exterminator; and [Bad username or site: sirforawhile title=Iggy @ livejournal.com], Five of Hearts and an accountant for his family firm.

Säde is 33 and she arrived on Deck age 17 (1996), so it's unlikely that they know each other from then. However, she briefly lived in NY in 2000 during her very short marriage (six months), so if you want they could know each other from there. Otherwise, it's no problem if they just met then.

Leigh is an orphan Säde picked up last year. She's fifteen on Tuesday. She has prosopagnosia, so it's harder for her to recognise people unless she's studied their appearance. She also has a phobia of men around six feet tall due to abuse she suffered before coming to the Deck. It's gotten a little better over the past year, but she still has a kneejerk reaction if one comes too close. She's Eileen's best friend, so he knows about her if he knows the Ace.

Annie is 23 and grew up in Spade Castle until she was 10, when her parents divorced. She had a car accident Outside where her brother was killed and spent ages 13 to 16 in a coma. Age 17 was when she returned. He likely knows her for either her odd sleeping habits (often in weird places and in the daytime) or her menagerie of snakes (which she uses in her job) or both.

Iggy is 27 and grew up on Deck. He lives in Town with his family, which includes five older siblings, their spouses, and several kids which he often has to babysit when he's not doing accounting. Probably he takes them to Caleb's clinic for a check up sometimes.

BELATED WORD TO THE WISE

JP's last name is Ramos Cordoval. When he has to put ONE, he will put RAMOS.

Ramos is his fathers last name.
Cordoval is his mothers.

Since there are far less spanish last names than english ones, and for oral history traditions, they always use TWO in conjuction to differentiate. (Or everyone will be Jose Perez and no one will know who they are talking to.)

So when you are calling him Mr. Something or using his last name for anything, please use RAMOS (or BOTH) or he will correct your character and get a little annoyed about it.

AHHH IT'S A RETURNING CHAAAARACTEEEEER~!

Ahem.

So, this is Muzy with Ben Mackinnon, who I first brought to the game last fall and dropped in January of this year. But I've brought him back now with a few tweaks and retcons. So.

Ben is a Scottish ex-cop and ex-smuggler who came to the Deck too years ago when things got a tad bit too warm when it came to ferrying slightly illegal goods across the North Sea. Very few people in the Deck know that, however, and should be limited to Victor Fox (his best friend who he met when he was a cop), Cadogan (who he does weapons requisitions for), and David and Elisha (who know a lot of things/everything). He dated Sophie for several months last year, and it ended...mostly amicably.

Disclaimer: I'm horrible (horrible) at intros, but I'll do the best I can after a full day of work and almost no sleep. :S

I'm Hena (pronounced "henna"; the second 'n', for whatever reason, is a no-call/no-show) and I was guided toward this lovely place by Ky (who, for some insane reason, seems hellbent on enabling me to the fullest). My character is Genevieve Nicole Vasco (evensoles, i.e. this chick), who goes by Eve, Gen, Genevieve, Hey You or any variant of the sort.

Without regurgitating her entire history (which can be found via her profile or by simply navigating to her journal), Genevieve's a 5 of Diamonds who was born off-Deck but stumbled into the place by accident one day on her way home from school. Her decision to stay in the deck wasn't an easy one to make, but she has her reasons for it and is now - 10 years later - generally content with where she is. She's a kind, humorous, energetic person with a shoe fetish that would probably put her out on the streets if she didn't have her own shoe store (open to anyone, come in any time).

Because of the store, it wouldn't be too far-fetched for her to meet up with/come to know any given characters in the Deck, I would think? Please correct me if I'm wrong. But as kind and humorous as she is, she's a bit of a loner workaholic who really has to push herself to mingle with people outside of work. Even though she likes the objective idea of jet-setting, she can be a bit control-freakish with her shop, and thus very hard-pressed to take days off. She does have an assistant who helps her run the shop (a NPC, which could be a spot for someone eventually maybe?), but as far as the overall management and business administration pieces, that's all her.

Those are the bare basics, I suppose. The particulars are in her journal/on her profile, and I'm currently debating whether or not to do that Character Survey of Doom thingie. Maybe. If I don't get overwhelmed by the sheer mass of it. @_@

Also, thank all of you have replied to the voice test. There are still a couple of you I need to get back to, and I haven't forgotten! I'm getting there, I'm just scatterbrained roughly 45% of the time (ask Ky). :(

I am 100% brand new to HoC, so please feel free to set me straight, iron me out, kick my butt, and all that good stuff. Open to it all!

EJ, again

This time I have Mathis Richter, a three of Diamonds. He lives in town and is open to making new friends of course.

Generally speaking, Mathis is sort of a would be loner- but is a good friend once you convince him you aren't actually going to bail. This is due to being raised as a foster child in the NYC area. He came to the Deck around the age of 18, and took up with a local tattooist in town, Willie. Since Willie retired, he runs the day to day things with the parlor- acting as manager.

Um- other things. Always open to past CR and such. Ex's, friends, etc etc. Enemies. Blah, blah. You know the drill right? More info can be found in his journal. :)

Since In Su and Mathis do come from similar backgrounds. {since In Su was homeless in NYC for example}, once they get over In Su's awkz and shyness they should be able to be friends. hopefully.

He's already 'met' mitch, xD incredibly different.

Not sure what JP would do about the tattooist, will save that for a thread/log at some point
