Yay! It's good to be here. :D

Disclaimer: I'm horrible (horrible) at intros, but I'll do the best I can after a full day of work and almost no sleep. :S

I'm Hena (pronounced "henna"; the second 'n', for whatever reason, is a no-call/no-show) and I was guided toward this lovely place by Ky (who, for some insane reason, seems hellbent on enabling me to the fullest). My character is Genevieve Nicole Vasco (evensoles, i.e. this chick), who goes by Eve, Gen, Genevieve, Hey You or any variant of the sort.

Without regurgitating her entire history (which can be found via her profile or by simply navigating to her journal), Genevieve's a 5 of Diamonds who was born off-Deck but stumbled into the place by accident one day on her way home from school. Her decision to stay in the deck wasn't an easy one to make, but she has her reasons for it and is now - 10 years later - generally content with where she is. She's a kind, humorous, energetic person with a shoe fetish that would probably put her out on the streets if she didn't have her own shoe store (open to anyone, come in any time).

Because of the store, it wouldn't be too far-fetched for her to meet up with/come to know any given characters in the Deck, I would think? Please correct me if I'm wrong. But as kind and humorous as she is, she's a bit of a loner workaholic who really has to push herself to mingle with people outside of work. Even though she likes the objective idea of jet-setting, she can be a bit control-freakish with her shop, and thus very hard-pressed to take days off. She does have an assistant who helps her run the shop (a NPC, which could be a spot for someone eventually maybe?), but as far as the overall management and business administration pieces, that's all her.

Those are the bare basics, I suppose. The particulars are in her journal/on her profile, and I'm currently debating whether or not to do that Character Survey of Doom thingie. Maybe. If I don't get overwhelmed by the sheer mass of it. @_@

Also, thank all of you have replied to the voice test. There are still a couple of you I need to get back to, and I haven't forgotten! I'm getting there, I'm just scatterbrained roughly 45% of the time (ask Ky). :(

I am 100% brand new to HoC, so please feel free to set me straight, iron me out, kick my butt, and all that good stuff. Open to it all!

In the spirit of proper introductions, I'm Qi, and it's super lovely to meet you and have you playing with us!

I have four Cards here, starting with lowtohigh, the Ace of Clubs and tiny girl-child. She's almost 13, is ridiculously precocious, and has probably bombarded Eve with a zillion questions about both the manufacture of shoes and the economics of running a small business.

My other Club is bluntforces, currently a Four. He's a Deck-baby, although in the last ten years he's been dividing his time between the Deck and work in the Outside, and recently started going to school in Canada to be a CPA. It's fairly likely he and Eve have met, however--he's incredibly outgoing and friendly, only a year older than she is and unlikely to have let even a Diamond go without getting the McCartney welcome wagon at some point.

Then I have piquedbutler, Five of Spades and the head butler at the Castle. He's been getting a little better, but he's a ridiculous sort of shut-in and incredibly judgmental for the most part. Unless she hangs out at Spades a lot, they're not likely to know each other.

And then there is diemwnt. It is clear to me from their ridiculously beautiful voice-test that they know each other, as Diamonds and as some sort of friends. He came to the Deck after she did, and would have passed her up the ranks pretty quickly. But we should discuss. :|a

Adding ALL the characters (quite literally, in a minute)! The voice test with Cadogan was seriously the stuff of legends. I don't even know how that happened, it just...did. I know Ky's been stuck to it like white on rice, lol. It's crazy how some characters can just hit it off like that, no? Talking is definitely in order for you and I, Q+I. /lame rhyme

If I'm doing it right, she joined the Deck in 2002, right? And was a Five in 2007, when Cadogan came to the Deck? He would have passed her in rank two years later in 2009. During this time, he was making friends with Adrien (who is a million years more fashion-forward than Cadogan can ever hope to be), and it's completely likely that either by scouting her for a possible challenge or by means of being made to look at shoes, and from there somehow their ridonkulous friendship grew?

Eve should probably also know Avery fairly well, as Avery is only two years older than her and I think was a Six when Eve became a Five. She doesn't have Zoe's shoe obsession (but few do, really XD) but shhe does have a decent collecction for occasions.

Hi Hena! I'm Ana and not only am I a mod, I'm also a member! (cheezy hair club-esque intro? Bleh. Anyway, moving on!)

So I've got five:

This one, which is Elani McCartney, Evan's younger sister. She's an Eight of Clubs and spends most of her time, currently, tutoring Eileen in musical-type things, as well as a few other NPC Deck children. When she's not doing that, she's probably helping organize some kind of event on Deck (people just can't tell her no for some reason...good thing she uses her powers for good!). She's also ridiculously sparkly and if this were a Disney movie, there'd be little woodland creatures following her around all the time as she breaks into song randomly.

Okay, she still breaks into song randomly but the only non-human creature likely to be following her around is her mostly-grown Viszla puppy that was a Christmas gift last year. ;)

Anyway, she's not got a big shoe "thing" but she is friends with Zoe so it's entirely possible she's shopped at Genevieve's a couplefew times.

Next!

Is Julien (acethatmatters), he's the Ace of Spades (and don't you forget it :||). He tends towards wearing well-tailored suits and things like that. And knives. He also isn't a particularly pleasant person, but he doesn't go out of his way to be unpleasant either. Unless he doesn't like you. Anyway, all of this to say he probably doesn't know Genevieve though he might have gone in once or twice for a pair of shoes for himself? He wouldn't have necessarily paid her much attention.

Then there is Johnny (fiddlerjohnny) who is a Four of Hearts. He has amnesia problems (stemming from a run-in with the Devil coming up on 11 years ago now that we don't talk about except in meta =P) wherein he doesn't remember mostly anything (stuff has begun trickling back in, finally) before about 10 years and some months ago. He's a ridiculous flirt, a mind-blowing fiddle player, and he doesn't do serious relationships well. As his long-lost girlfriend from before he came to the Deck (Abby) can attest. :\

After that is Davin (so_complicit), an Eight of Spades. He is Hadyn, Clive, and Jordan's uncle and was a consistent father-figure for Hadyn and Jordan as they were growing up. He's generally pretty cool. Also a suit-wearer. May have shopped with Genevieve and/or helped her get harder-to-find shoes from Off-Deck (he Procures Things).

Then, finally, is Pete (maystillcrow), a Five of Clubs. He used to be a full-time writer for the Deck newspaper, The Daily Trump. Now he's a part-timer and most of his time is spent being a personal assistant for the King of Clubs (Elisha). Unbeknownst to people, he's also an informant for Elisha's spy organization so the journalist thing is a reasonable reason for why he talks to all sorts of people and asks questions and things. He's pretty inoffensive and tries not to be particularly remarkable. Dunno if he and Genevieve would know each other or not. Maybe in passing?

Thank you for such a warm welcome! I can already tell Elani is a sweetheart, and its probably her events that Eve will try her hardest to attend, but ultimately decide to stay home and crunch numbers or paint her nails. She's not against socializing, it's just easier to stay home and get some work done. Zoe's already trying to talk her around to take a vacation, so maybe Elani's chipper and outgoing spirit may nudge Eve over the edge and actually get her to do something besides work and play around with her hair and makeup.

For the others, she very well could get to know them later on. But in passing, she's always kind. Even toward grumpycakes like Julien. :)

Welcome to the game! I'm Yin.

You've already met Iggy (sirforawhile). He's a Five of Hearts, an accountant working for his family's publishing company. Iggy is Deckborn and lives in Town with his family, who take shameless advantage of babysitting opportunities. Going by the voicetesting he's at the very least acquaintances with her- maybe sees her while on the way to work or similar.

Säde here is newly Queen of Diamonds, since last month, and has been Ace of Diamonds for eight years before that. She arrived on Deck fifteen years ago. She's generally cold and while she doesn't actively discourage people approaching her, there's definitely an aura of unapproachability. So while Eve may have sold her shoes on occasion, it's up to you how she feels about Säde. Säde isn't rude, but she condescends.

Leigh (allthesamemask) is Säde's ward and a Two of Diamonds. She arrived on Deck in September last year. As she's just turned fifteen, she's still in school, although she's apprenticed as a baker in the Castle kitchens. She's a little shy, largely because of her faceblindness. It's possible that she's spoken to Eve often enough that she's become familiar with her general appearance and voice.

Annie (oneirophiliac) is a Five of Spades and the Suit exterminator. She keeps snakes. Currently they're all hibernating, so if Eve's afraid of them there's no need to worry. She doesn't care for shoes, though that's likely going to change now she's been appointed ambassador to the Hearts. She's Deck-born, but left thirteen years ago and returned roughly six years ago.

And let us take a minute to bow to our Queen. *bows* Eve is pretty respectful in general (she saves her off-color humor for people she's close to), but with Royalty she's especially on her best behavior. Not so much a sycophant, it's more her being sure she minds her P's and Q's and doesn't kick up dust when it comes to politics. If Säde is cold, unapproachable and condescending, Eve will just chalk it up to her being the Queen, rather than take it personally in any way.

I'm not sure where Eve would run into Leigh, except in passing at the Castle. Eve has a pseudo-mother figure who lives there, so she bops in from time to time. Plus, cooking and all other culinary shenanigans are Eve's second love, so...there's always room to chat about cookies and such. :)

No business can run properly without a handy exterminator, so much appreciation for Annie's profession. And if she needs to get her feet done up proper for her ambassadorial duties, Eve's happy to be of service.

I'm EJ (new character, thus new journal).

I have five kidlets here, and am also horrid at Intros and CR post :|.

First up is:

Hadyn [ maskofhearts ], He is a Nine of Hearts, and a member of the Local theatre troupe. Due to being the highest ranked member of the troupe now, his former mentor in the troupe has started trying to groom him to take over things in the next few years or so. Hadyn, however, isn't particularly aware of this...and bitches about a lot of pressure Henry puts on him. He is a bit of a fashion forward individual, and is currently dating Elisha, the King of Clubs. And...yeah, most anything you need to know about him is in his profile.

Victor [ morallydefunct ], a Ten of Spades, and Head of Security there. He is probably not a fan because :| his poor closet and Zoe's addiction to shoes. That being said, when he does decide he needs new shoes himself he might stop by. He's not much of a chatter, pretty quite- but he does come with a rep for being particularly cold and nasty. However, despite the rep he'd always be charming/polite with Eve

Clive [ wouldbetrump ], Hadyn's older cousin, and Jack of Spades. He's the guy in charge of Spade PR, and generally speak very easy to get along with. He smiles a lot, doesn't come off as a normal Spade (in that he's rather nice and charming). He fails at flirting, however, so when he tries it just all falls apart.

Leona [ mightbedrunk ], Six of Clubs, and Head of Accounting there. She probably owns stock in Eve's shop because she spends a ton of her money there. She likes her shoes, what can she say? She's fun, and usually has wacky sorts of things to say between being rather serious at times. She's also a bit of a drunk.

And lastly, the new kid:

Mathis Richter, this one, Three of Diamonds. He is a tattooist, and it sort of shows. If he needs shoes, he might stop by...might not. He needs to go for as long as he can in the shoes/clothes he has...which means they fall off his feet in pieces before he gives in and buys new ones. But otherwise pretty friendly, though maybe a touch quiet until he gets to know someone.

And welcome, welcome! Beware, however, this is a bit of an addiction.

No, really!

Karin, here (5, soon to be 7 of Clubs), is actually going to be seeking stylish-yet-comfortable shoes for her new duties as ambassadore. It's a very different sort of work than butling.

dj_shuffle, Teddy (2 of Hearts), is a sneakers sort of guy. He likes to get cheap white sneakers and draw on them.

trainingwreck, Tally (the Jack of Diamonds), is the biggest shoe addict of my characters. Heels, flats, ass-kicking boots...her increased paycheck as Jack means more visits.

And finally, fallenpips, Isadore (2 of Clubs), is heel-o-phobic. Wedges, maybe, but she's most often seen in boots or men's leather dress shoes.
