there's plot afoot!
So as you all might have noticed, there've been rumblings here and there about various factions of Deckians (I just made that word up) who don't particularly approve of so many Outsiders in positions of authority in the Deck. Not just the ones who are Faces, but in some cases any Outsiders who aren't 'in their place' performing menial jobs, for instance. Steadily, the tension is growing. Particularly since the last couple of years have been something of a roller-coaster with little chance for proper resolution (the murder of Andrew didn't entirely settle well with a lot of people, the Arcana came from Outside the Deck [so to speak] and jacked things up, the Deck starts doing the shimmy every night, more people disappear and are never heard from again, etc) and many people see these as a sign of the failure of those in charge to lead the Deck as it ought to be led. Because they aren't true Cards.
So basically, we figure there's a recipe in here of tension and a bunch of people with well-honed violent tendencies just waiting for the right impetus to set off a conflict. Probably in the next couple of days you will see a post go up regarding vandalism in Town that leads to businesses getting trashed and things getting stolen which sets off a chain reaction. Soon there will be Cards demanding answers, protests, graffiti, duels in the streets, et cetera et cetera. Lines drawn between those who think the Outsiders should be ousted, those who think the Old Blood are being ridiculously bigoted. Those who just wish things could go back to normal. You get the idea.
But a lot of it will be up to you. We want you guys to play with this too as this isn't going to go away overnight. So if you think you've got a character who might end up coming down on the "actually maybe we should put some proper Cards in charge to fix things" side or characters that want to preserve the current way of things, please feel free to volunteer. You can also volunteer up your characters' businesses, homes, or offices (or whatever) for vandalism/theft/whatever floats your boat. And of course the requisite payback.
And if you've got general suggests or other ideas, please toss those in too.

I sort of feel like Justin's employers might gently suggest to him that he should go stay/work somewhere else for a while. Not because they agree with the sentiment, but because they don't want their place trashed because he's there.
I can also be an NPC for someone else to play against if you want.

Rachel probably has relatives that would share the anti-Outsider ideas, so if anyone wants to snag a person for purposes of plot I can throw a list of relatives at them. Likewise with Teresa, although a little less so.
I am up for NPCing/picking up a person. I will sit on it for a bit.
ETA: May also be interesting to see Outsider Cards retaliating against the hate somehow?

But I also hereby vote for Cynric hiding Rowan and Johnny in a hole of safety together. :|a

Also, I volunteer Jinx for bullying - she's the kind of quiet, non-confrontational person that would be an easy target for dissenters trying to work themselves up, I think.
And David. Will totally and completely open a spy-for-hire business in which he digs up dirt for all payers and then doles it out (or lies) to the people he wants to manipulate in any particular direction.

O...ther than that, um. Evan will probably give in to pushing up the ladder. Cadogan might need to be Challenged. Rita may or may not develop more complicated relationships with the Deck being home or not. Cynric I need to think on deeply about things I can't even right now with words.
And I volunteer as tribute if people want Jerk McCartneys or Deckist (is that a word) Eicheln Brother to show up and be assholes at people?

VICTOR IS NOT FROM THE DECK.

Jordan is from the Deck and Zoe is from the Deck, though.

I don't know if we should move on with our murder most foul thing and frame le psycho girlfriend's death as a retaliation thing (she is deckborn right?)

Also, Sophie will murderize anyone who hurts Cadogan. Just saying. (Oh, okay. She knows he can handle himself but it would bring out all those protective instincts. OMG. Roisin? No one will hurt her, will they? Murderizing truly would happen then.)
I think Monty's my only other off Deck peep. Open for suggestions there.
ETA: Question? How many generations does it take before a family is considered "of the Deck"? The Bowens (Tess) didn't show up until right after WWI. Will things devolve to new bloods vs. old bloods eventually?
no subject
She was killed in a riot against her son's status in her original universe I can't with my own heart. Also, my guess would be that if people can't remember your family showing up, you're fine. So families for four generations or so would be okay unless they make a big deal about being 'new blood.' Thoughts from other people?

As for this Outsider plot, I would like to do something with my lovely xenophobic Christian Stark. He can't challenge but he can be part of the assassination attempt if you would like.

Theo is Deckborn and will not be happy with this garbage. Idk what sort of shenanigans will be happening in/around Heart castle, but they will be Frowned Upon, and if things get too rough, he'll definitely get his Face Cards together and they'll step in.
Ethan is also a Deckborn (is there an official term for that yet, anyone? XD) and given recent events, isn't really going to be too tolerant of anyone who bellows the loudest, although until weapons get drawn or Bad Things Happen, will just let them yell and fuss--it's their own breath they're wasting, right? Let 'em screech, shit.
All of 'em are open for things, have at!

Adrien: oh my god the Fitzgeralds are going to be 100x more obnoxious than usual and also if anyone touches Cadogan then there is going to be fighting happening okay okay.
Blythe: shitshitshit x infinity. Please Deck bring back the blizzards and the Not Being Able To Get Off-Deck from last year. She can deal with that. No but for real if anyone wants to bitch about Blythe / trash her office / make her feel terrible, please to be going ahead. :D
Riley: She will beat up EVERYONE/ANYONE who is against Outsiders. So let's have some brawls okay. She wants to kick people in the head.
Prosper: I believe his lab is going to get broken into. And. The laboratory is going to be shut down due to biohazard contamination. Oop. /o\
Nelly: She's going to be very worried but uh love/hate relationships might appear in her lil notebook. >.>
Kritika: The Rao family doesn't care about Outsiders/Insiders as much as general competence. So they're mostly pissed off at people upsetting the order/creating chaos.

Well, Säde and Leigh being a package pair on this, they'll both definitely get some heat. Säde is probably getting challenged, and Leigh might not be as vulnerable since she's the Queen's ward but she's definitely at a disadvantage if she's attacked and can't identify her attackers. Säde will also be pretty concerned for her stepson&family.
Rap probably won't even notice until someone does it in front of him and then he'll take sides- because of the persons involved, not the cause.
Annie will probably get some sideeyes, especially those with shorter memories. Her mom's an Outsider and has consistently done her best to integrate with the Spades, and Annie herself did leave for a time. But more likely the Chives will protect them a little (and also turn on them a little?)
Iggy is just. Not having this. Pretty sure he actually went home to check up on his niblings and make sure they weren't involved/aren't going to be involved in vandalism. They may not listen to him though, so NPC Xius are volunteered for bad bad things.
And I'm pondering bringing an Outsider into this mess. :|a
