First Post Questions

[identity profile] dazzlingclarity.livejournal.com in [community profile] houseofcardsooc

Hello all. New character and player here. *waves*

It's very nice to be able to join the Deck. But before Grace does her first post, I was hoping to snag a little feedback first. Since she's literally stumbling into the Deck, what would be the best first post for her? Her initially seeing the deck? Or a week or two later and she's 'settling in'?

Asking because I'm not quite sure of the process of Outsiders being integrated into the deck, and I'd rather not commit some giant faux pas.

*tips hat*
Cheers.

Hey everyone in this club. Hey. Hey.

This is Violet with her fifth character! :) Alexandra Castillo, more commonly called Lexa, is a Spanish-Hungarian raised in a poverty-stricken city in Brazil. Abbreviated history, go! She was part of a gang, but the police got on her trail and she ran into the Deck. And is now a Two of Clubs. Sarcastic, adamant, and pretty steadfastly loyal if you get on her good side. She's just arrived on Deck, so previous CR is improbable. But. If you can think of something, just run it by me as always.

Don't pick on the new meat, gaiz. She is a little taller and a little baller, okay. :|

ETA: Also. She's sixteen. That's important. Carry on.

Cooper Thane - CR Anyone?

[identity profile] heartstrine.livejournal.com in [community profile] houseofcardsooc

Hello, my lovelies. This is Song with her fifth character, Cooper (Coop) Thane, a returning Deck baby and new 8 of Hearts.

Coop, 33, grew up a Club. His parents are still alive and kicking. His mother, Fiona, is a 3rd Gen Spade who fled that Suit during the old regime. She probably would have returned when David took over, but by then she had met and married Ross Thane (a first generation [Australian] Club). Fiona is a gardener and Ross an accountant. They had three children. Cooper is the middle kid.

Cooper is a guy. He likes to drink, he likes to fight (friendly most times) he likes sports, the outdoors. He's not too interested in fashion. He's happier doing than thinking, though he's actually quite clever. He keeps that close to his chest and is generally friendly, though he's not above slipping in the occasional sarcasm. He's a people watcher, always looking below the surface. He doesn't talk about his emotions or get emotional (or tries not to). He has no patience for whiners or any gender, and he likes people who take care of themselves. No wilting flowers for Coop, thanks. Oh, and don't change his name to Copper. He'd have to deck you.

Growing up, Cooper excelled in sports. The Deck isn't conducive to team sports (though Coop is a huge fan of the Broncos, Lions and Reds). His father started him in boxing. Coop's size and speed (and the fact that he's a southpaw) helped him immensely. He's also a devilishly fast swimmer and an ace tennis player.

Riley, his older sister, left the Deck at 20 after a failed challenge. Jack, the baby, was injured (and later died) in a freak training accident (he landed wrong after a judo throw and broke his neck). He was barely fifteen.

Cooper spiraled into a depression and eventually left the Deck, returning to his grandparents in Brisbane. He and his grandfather, Wil, a retired detective, became quite close (love of sports and cooking). Coop followed his grandfather's footsteps and entered a career in law enforcement. Cooper rose swiftly in the ranks, becoming a detective at 23 and assigned first to Narcotics and later to Homicide. He lost the taste for his job when he took on a case where a father had systematically planned out the murder of his wife and three small children. Thoroughly burned out by death, he returned to the Deck after his mother contacted him and told him his father had had a heart attack. Cooper was 25.

His father lived, but Cooper wanted to be nearer his parents and decided to give the Deck another go. He's still giving it a go after eight years. He didn't want to live in his parents' pockets (plus the Clubs reminded him too much of his dead brother) and joined the Hearts as a Two. He chose the Hearts because he liked their Queen and King. Besides, he has the sneaking suspicion he should probably arrest most of the Spades on general principles and the Diamonds are too caught up in appearances for his liking.

Cooper's an excellent cook, supplementing his early cooking lessons from Ross with classes in his spare time. He works in the kitchens (runs them if there isn't anyone else).

So, CR? Anyone want to volunteer to have accidentally killed poor Jack? Could be from any Suit, but a Club is most likely. Any Club want to have pummelled Riley out of the Deck? Is there someone else in charge of the Heart kitchens?

Hit me!

(In case you're interested, here's a list of challenges: Battleship, Sudoku, Best Souffle, 400M medley (swimming), Boxing, Archery)

Headsup about the Andrea's Plot

[identity profile] awearytraveler.livejournal.com in [community profile] houseofcardsooc

Like I said in the House of Crack community a few hours back, I'm going to finally start moving the storyline in concerns of James' murder and it'll be soon. This is an announcement to let you guys know.  This is also if you guys are interested in joining the plot for whatever reasons you have. If this doesn't make sense, I understand because I'm nervous as sin while typing this down and give enough information without spoiling everything about it. See? Nervous. Anyways.

Information:

Anyone surprised I did a teal deer? No? Me too. )

So there we go. The murder plot. Thanks for taking your time in reading this. If you have any questions or comments, let me know anyway you want to express/ask.

Melly~

ETA: More coherency and might do more editing because what is this I don't even-- /hides under rock

This is shorter than I thought it would be! - (aka CR-post!)

Hello there, lovely folks! Rekla here, with a new character!

This is Jeannie, a Three of Hearts. Her full history can be found here, but it is fairly TL;DR. Here be a shorter, somewhat watered down version:

Jeannie was born into the Diamond Suit, and lived in town during most of her childhood, though she frequently visited her grandfather in Diamond Castle, anyway. When she was fifteen, thus old enough to challenge, she followed her oldest brother, Theo (now a Nine of Diamonds), up to the castle. She made it to the rank of a Seven, her last challenge was in January 2011. She was countered in the same month, by a man named Eric Crawford who died in that challenge. Here's where things go down the drain. She couldn't live with having killed that man and left the castle, basically going back to her family in town... where things didn't go better at all. At the end of April, she attempted to commit suicide and was send to a mental health facility afterwards.

In November 2011, she returned to the Deck, though as suggested by her brother, she left the Diamond Suit to join the Hearts as a Two. She's been holding up well since then and just recently, she challenged up and became a Three. Though she's not looking to rise any farther up at the moment... or anytime ever.

Diamonds probably know her, since she's been one of them for a major part of her life. And she's probably met a couple of Hearts during her time in the Suit. And it's not unlikely for her to have met some Clubs or Spades.~

Sooo, CR, anyone? :D?

Moar CR

Daisy's fifth. Phew. I'll try to keep this short. This is Georgi "Jimmy" Kozlek, Four of Clubs.

1) Thirty years old, has been on the Deck for six years. Originally from Bulgaria, but lived in Vienna for several years prior to coming here. Speaks many languages, mainly Bulgarian, English, German and Hungarian. He's six foot five, way up there on the Too Tall spectrum, and a congenital amputee; missing his left arm from just below the elbow. It doesn't affect his work overmuch. Which is this--

2) He runs a farm on the outskirts of Club lands. It's mainly poultry, some sheep, and of course them lovely vegetables and fruit and elderflowers. He likely press-gangs people (especially kiddos) into helping him out during heavy seasons. Lambing soon!

3) Generally speaking, a warm and jovial type, though farm life is an education in tough love. If the drama or workload of the castles ever gets too much, his farmhouse and barns are open for anyone to crash in. He's a good listener and good at keeping a cheerful face on even in times of dire non-cheer. Extremely hard-working and dedicated, and of course owns a buttload of animals. Dogs, cats, geese, you name it. Just don't get too attached to the livestock...

4) I'm thinking he had his heart broked a few years back. Any takers? Also, pre-Deck, he spent some time smuggling various Illegal Things across the border between Austria and Hungary. I'm not sure there's anyone relevant hanging around, but hey, you never know when it comes to past CR.

Have more CR posting

[identity profile] wiredspade.livejournal.com in [community profile] houseofcardsooc

Hi, Deck. It's Marie. Have Meghana, a Ten of Spades.

I think this the last CR post of the round so... here we go.

Meghana comes from a 4th generation Indian Deck family known as the Sankarans, relatively stable and approachable Spade family that had risen to some prominence due to her father Muni Sankaran, an 8 of Spades. When she was younger, Megs was a pretty nice kid. A touch of a geek because of her love of computers and the fact she was either training in kalaripayattu or being tutored. Of course, you wouldn't quite mess with her. She had two older brothers Jagan and Kanja who would were the only ones in theory allowed to pick on her. (This probably didn't stop a few people. :|)

When she was 14 Meghana's father was killed and Meghana was beaten and the blame was placed on Meghana's eldest brother, Jagan (which isn't the case, see the profile for details). The incident was a huge a trigger in Meghana's life. She began to shut down to certain emotions and focused on being a cyber security specialist for the Deck/Spades (aka hacker) and climbing the ranks to ten by age 20 where she's been buffering for the Face Cards. She's been gone for about 13 months to buy equipment for the Spades, to train herself to get to the bleeding edge on cyber security, and to polish up on her kalaripayattu skills. She's returned home and basically is going, "what is this- i don't even- >:|".

She's sarcastic and 'honest' (omission is never a lie) and lacks charm nor has she ever desired the ability to be charming. She's not a horrid person when you get to know her. She enjoys books, new media, dancing, and developed an ability for cooking Indian food and Finnish. Not amazing but good. Meghana is a touch... nervous about eating other people's food. Meghana might also have a few people who could possibly not like her or have very negative CR. And CR that's slightly positive, too. That's always good. She's had a few relationship disasters because of her emotional issues and lack of trust so victims volunteers of those tragedies are welcomed.

Or any CR at all. <3 I'm never picky.  I've PM'd some of you about CR but now that her entire profile is up and you want to change something, let me know.
