Okay, so...since it has been several months since Argine was officially dropped and the person who was interested in adopting her has left the game, to make the post of Queen of Clubs fully open, we are just saying that, due to her health concerns and so she can focus more on her daughter, Argine has chosen to retire down to the rank of Ten and leave open the rank of Queen for someone else to manage.

Apparently, Elisha's recent trip off Deck brought the fact home to her that she is no longer fully capable of being Queen and thus, for the health of the suit, she is choosing to let it go to someone who can. There is no formal announcement, but the gossip will likely spread quickly.

HI!

My name is Ky, I was introduced to HoC by Kelz, and I'm so psyched to be here.
I was literally counting the days before I got approved :P

I'm totally new, and I'm bringing with me Yeo In-Su. He's a Korean who came to America for art school. His parents died while he was there, and he became a homeless meth addict as a result. He's shy, a closetted gay, artistic, 24, and desperately in need of some life in order business.

He's an atypical spade/decker, and hopefully gonna be able to take up the apprentice tattooist position. As well as spend time in Frederick's studio.

I'm uber excited to RP with all of you, and I know some of your characters due to some SWS nonsense.

Hopefully more apps to come, as I mature into the game.
I'm still a little confused about the mechanics of the deck, but I'm an experienced RPer otherwise, and hope to get into plenty of threads with you guys.

We forgot to actually post about this when it was decided but there is no longer a monthly limit to the number of characters of a particular Suit and Rank that can join at a time. However, if it looks to be a problem and we get a bunch coming in at once, we will likely ask some number of them to either wait for the following month or choose a different rank. :)

Greetings cardlings, tis Meek here and I would like to introduce you to Ashley.

Now, I am not ICly introducing him as the Diamond King until I have chatted with Drea about this and that. I think it's fairly Diamond that Rachel would be the one to set up a ceremony or announcement or something of the like with her final decision.

What I do need from you guys is some CR.
All of his History is in his profile but here is a rundown:

♔ Born in Ireland to a well off family; came to the deck when he was 19. He is now 35.

♔ He was not a very nice person when he first arrived. He was angry, closed off, paranoid, and a general wreck. Heavy drinker. Bar fights. Etc. He remained as a rough and tumble Diamond servant for quite some time. A persistant Diamond finally picked him up after much trial and error. This Diamond can be an NPC or it can be one of you.

♔ With the aid of said Diamond he began to get back to his roots, starting with the Piano. After proving he could obey and pay attention to the rules of the Castle he was permitted to challenge to three and won via Piano. This happened when he was 23.

♔ As he progressed and cleaned up his act further he saught a creative outlet. Diamonds, being the House of beauty and creative endeavors as it seemed, had plenty of fashionists, make-up artists, hair stylists, etc. They didn't have many interior designers; he liked the challenge so he began to train with the one that was currently head for Diamond Castle.

♔ At 26 he asked to jump two ranks to a 5; his challenge was to design a room for the new child one of the Tens were having. His design won and it was the winning of this challenge that caught the attention to his designing skills.

♔ At 27 he went back to Piano and won a challenge to 6.

♔ His final rise, the rise to Eight, was when he decided to at long last come out of the closet publicly. The challenge was based on preformance, accuracy, and appearence. He came out on stage dressed in heels, feathers, glitter and glamor pulling off a very impressive young Elton John impersonation and played Crocodile Rock. He won.

♔ Since then Ashley has been a steady pillar for diversity and freedom of expression. He is very encouraging to his fellow diamonds to challenge and explore and be who they are and what they want to be. He is very welcoming to new Diamonds and hosts a group for those who are struggling with their sexuality or just want to be in the company of similar persons. (Not just for Diamonds)

♔ He will ocassionally entertain at the Casino.

Apologies for the late introduction. I got a bit overwhelmed by the explosion of posts here after all the new characters were accepted and had to take a step back. But I’ve now mustered enough courage to make an appearance :P.

So, here’s Jacques, Seven of Diamonds, who is a long-time friend of Christopher Kahl (previously called Jacob by him; I hope the name change won’t cause any confusion). They met at Duke University and he introduced Christopher to the Deck. Jacques himself has been mostly off-Deck for the last four years, making a career producing television documentaries and films. He’s come back now to settle down. For him, Deck is The Place to live. He likes the old-fashioned ways, the formality and the I’m-part-of-a-strange-movie feel of it all.

Unlike most Diamonds, he grew up rather geeky and unfashionable and to his father’s dismay, not very keen on climbing up the social ladder. He’s made it to Seven, though, and is content to stay there. Luckily this hasn’t caused any rift between him and his father, because the old man thinks it’s just as good to be earning money... after all, one day Jacques might be able to buy a higher position instead of winning it through challenges.

His family has made their fortune in casino business and they own one on Deck, too, called Pavilion. It’s quite a small establishment, but they have live entertainment on occasion. Part of the profit is given to charity, so you’ll do a good deed by stopping by at their casino :).

Emma here with Card number 3, ironically a Three of Diamonds, Lelial Scott-Hughes. Not from the Deck originally, she's a writer from the Outside who made her living and fortune writing inspirational books, poetry, memoirs, ect. Full info is here, feel free to browse. She's been part of the Suit for about a year, but has only recently returned from Outside where she's been promoting her latest publication and is more than glad to be escaping the hustle and bustle which that entails.

A further note: Lelial was not born blind, but rather suffered a traumatic accident during childhood (of which she has never spoken nor has ever been disclosed to the public) and had to learn to live with her handicap. She overcame countless obstacles and trials to achieve an independent adulthood and semblance of a normal life. She has a deep passion for helping others with abnormalities, but prefers to remain aloof from the spotlight, instead letting her works speak for her in the public venue. Her writing success has made a considerable difference in her life, as money always smooths even the roughest terrain, but financial stability is secondary to her need to share her innermost thoughts and connect with others on a wide scale.

Despite her handicap, she remembers voices very well and can still use a keyboard to write and a pencil/pen, if necessary. She also reads Braille very well. Her vision is not gone completely, (IE: she doesn't exist in total darkness) but she can differentiate between "light" and "dark", and makes her way through her surroundings well, despite lacking visual cue. Just...don't ask her what happened for her to lose her sight, because she won't tell you.

So. CR anyone?

Daisy's fifth. Phew. I'll try to keep this short. This is Georgi "Jimmy" Kozlek, Four of Clubs.

1) Thirty years old, has been on the Deck for six years. Originally from Bulgaria, but lived in Vienna for several years prior to coming here. Speaks many languages, mainly Bulgarian, English, German and Hungarian. He's six foot five, way up there on the Too Tall spectrum, and a congenital amputee; missing his left arm from just below the elbow. It doesn't affect his work overmuch. Which is this--

2) He runs a farm on the outskirts of Club lands. It's mainly poultry, some sheep, and of course them lovely vegetables and fruit and elderflowers. He likely press-gangs people (especially kiddos) into helping him out during heavy seasons. Lambing soon!

3) Generally speaking, a warm and jovial type, though farm life is an education in tough love. If the drama or workload of the castles ever gets too much, his farmhouse and barns are open for anyone to crash in. He's a good listener and good at keeping a cheerful face on even in times of dire non-cheer. Extremely hard-working and dedicated, and of course owns a buttload of animals. Dogs, cats, geese, you name it. Just don't get too attached to the livestock...

4) I'm thinking he had his heart broked a few years back. Any takers? Also, pre-Deck, he spent some time smuggling various Illegal Things across the border between Austria and Hungary. I'm not sure there's anyone relevant hanging around, but hey, you never know when it comes to past CR.

Hello there, lovely folks! Rekla here, with a new character!

This is Jeannie, a Three of Hearts. Her full history can be found here, but it is fairly TL;DR. Here be a shorter, somewhat watered down version:

Jeannie was born into the Diamond Suit, and lived in town during most of her childhood, though she frequently visited her grandfather in Diamond Castle, anyway. When she was fifteen, thus old enough to challenge, she followed her oldest brother, Theo (now a Nine of Diamonds), up to the castle. She made it to the rank of a Seven, her last challenge was in January 2011. She was countered in the same month, by a man named Eric Crawford who died in that challenge. Here's where things go down the drain. She couldn't live with having killed that man and left the castle, basically going back to her family in town... where things didn't go better at all. At the end of April, she attempted to commit suicide and was send to a mental health facility afterwards.

In November 2011, she returned to the Deck, though as suggested by her brother, she left the Diamond Suit to join the Hearts as a Two. She's been holding up well since then and just recently, she challenged up and became a Three. Though she's not looking to rise any farther up at the moment... or anytime ever.

Diamonds probably know her, since she's been one of them for a major part of her life. And she's probably met a couple of Hearts during her time in the Suit. And it's not unlikely for her to have met some Clubs or Spades.~
